You should be fine with just the invoice, as the ratlle is a byproduct of a production defect that Dynomax is aware of and should warranty without much of a hassle. Try getting a replacement directly from Summit, and if that doesn't work, then go through Dynomax, send them a vid if needed.

I love it when customers send me vids and pics of their issues, it makes diagnostics significantly easier.

I still have mine sitting in the garage. I have cams so I don't think I'll be installing it.

I wonder if it would be a good idea for people to list their muffler success+ cams used, with regards to muffler rattle.

Maybe engine size too.

I finally got the muffler on this morning. First thing I noticed, is the car is way quieter in cabin. I'm not sure about outside the car. Second, the valve makes a ton of noise when you're coming right off idle (i.e.- leaving a stop sing/stop light, backing out of a parking space, etc.).

So, I'm not sure how happy I am right now. I'm gonna give it a little bit more time before I make a final decision.

Thanks for all the help blue.

Does it happen just during take off or at idle and normal driving as well ?

Not sure, maybe depends on the aggressiveness of the cam. From a video clip posting I saw on an aggressive cam setup, its a super annoying clanking.

The only time I ever experience clanking is since I converted to E-85, during the initial cranking and 3 seconds of start up. The car is almost about to stall as the rpms dip really low and jump back up it clanks a little. Its only for like 2-3 seconds. But thats because the Rpm's dip down to 500 then jumps back up.

It happens off idle no matter if the car is warm or cold. It rattles for a minute or two at start up, but it's really bad backing out of parking spaces. I'm gonna check tomorrow in the light to see if it's just the valve, or if there is some contact under there when the engine is 'chugging'.

The muffler on my car is clamped on. So I have the luxury to switch mufflers easily. Also I used those cheap aluminized diy hangers strapped on the tail pipe to the oem rubber hanger.

Info: The exhaust "tip" is just a 3" stainless steel tubing I clamped on. I dont have any plans on further improving the tip or exhaust angle. When fully warmed the exhaust "tip" sticks out a little as you can tell from the picture. I like how it looks angled and also how it sticks out because it keeps my bumper clean.

Do you guys think that I could use this muffler as a resonator and weld it into my exhaust after the test pipe? There is a long section of straight exhaust pipe on my Helix cat-back that I could weld it into. I really need to quiet my car down because its catless and has HKS 280 cams. I'm thinking this or the Vibrant ultra quiet resonator would help. Thanks

Fred

I dont know if it will fit or not. Why not just put this exhaust in the rear like I did? You wont need to run any type of extra mufflers with this muffler to keep quiet. Unless you want to be quiet during WOT as well.

Yes cut it out and replace it with the VT muffler.

And if you want you can just paint the muffler black like I did.
