Spark plugs will wear out faster if you have larger lightning bolt arc'ing on them.

What are you setting the gap to ? I went through 2 sets of iridiums on my 05 MR setting the gap at factory specs. After 10K or so it did the same behaviour yours is showing.

Now I gap them at .025 and havent had an issue ...20K on them at 25 psi

To prevent carbon tracking use high dielectric spark plug boot release. Fill the grooves on the ceramic body of the plug. Install as usual. Works like a champ !!

okay, this issue was never solved...turns out the car is knocking, and pulling timing. that's what the bogging is. I seem to have a small exhaust leak that could possibly be coming from the wga. would this cause these problems? i'm starting to think that this knock issue is a false knock though. when i have time, i'm going to get under the car and make sure everything is tight and that i don't have anything rattling causing noise. the knock happens in every gear, but only if i do a pull from 2000-3000 rpm. if I start the pull in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear from 4000rpm or higher, no knock. also, once i shift, into a higher gear, no matter what gear I was in, the knocking stops and doesn't continue. I ran the car all the way from 1st through redline in 5th starting from 4000rpm in first and recorded 0 knock. any ideas?

any check engine lights? an exhaust leak wouldn't cause knock. you're running lean or have a bad lean misfire. whats the fuel pressure at? have you had it diagnosed?

we looked at the tune, and all of that is looking okay. tried other tunes, and flashing back to the stock tune. none of that worked. it's been doing this for a while, even when the car was stock. when i got the car tuned, it actually went away. it was tuned out...but then it came back. I found that I had a bad injector, so i replaced all 4, and thought that would have fixed it...but it didn't.

knock sensor is bad. if you flashed back to stock and still have the issue, look at that sensor.

yes, and there were zero leaks. i just had the tb seals replaced, and injector seals to make sure, then the car was leak tested. no leaks.

i you are recording 0 knocks there is two things, bad knock sensor or you are getting false knock ( which has been known to happen on evos a lot, caused by the rattling exhaust or trans due to shiffting)...i say do the sensor and go from there...btw did you say the car is pulling timing, but u r not getting any knock??

it's pulls timing when I get knock. it never pulls timing without the knock. I get knock when i do pulls from 2-4k...over 4k in 1-3rd gears will not induce knock, and the car will run fine all the way to redline in every gear.

I think it could have something to do with my BOV leaking/chattering/rattling, but I don't know if that would be causing the issues I'm having.
