Got rid of my o2 sensor check light finally....

i know some of us, who are using test pipes, were lucky enough to, not even throw one....but after the few years of using the black electrical tape cover and trying and getting frustrated with all the different parts......i decided to go back under the car and remove my o2 sensor from the vibrant extender sleeve.....looked at it really well and decided to clean it with brake clean.....now to think of what would deter it from lighting up again.....

in conjunction with the vibrant extender......mine was still throwing the code....

my solution:
kept the extender in place to avoid line of exhaust path.....but i wrapped the tip of the o2 sensor with 2 plys of aluminum foil.....poked a few holes that line up with the sensor so it can breathe and sense something.....it's working flawlessly.....for over 200 miles!......all this time i should have done this.....two years of looking down at the dash....how annoying.....

as a permanent fix....i am going to sleeve it with an aluminum cylinder sleeve and drill a few holes to breathe....maybe mess with some metal screen door material.....

hope this helps everyone else with this problem.....

I could be wrong, but couldn't you simply take it to a tuner and have them reprogram the car to not detect the o2 sensor?

i did try that.....i have a 2006 tuned by sean ivey....when i left it was cleared....but a days later popped back up.....so i tried everything and finally gave up.....this seems to be the only thing that has worked.....

aluminum foil wrapped o2 with tiny holes poked through.... installed in the vibrant extender

well i thought about the steel wool, but realized that it rusts very fast and breaks apart when moisture is on it.....esp. if heated.....i decided on aluminum foil cause it withstood 450 degrees in my oven reapeatedly.....

The 2 anti-fouler trick has worked for me for over 30K miles. If I get the CEL, I just clean the O2 sensor and antifoulers a bit and it's good to go.

i have 1 anti fouler on there and it works like a charm. some exhausts wont allow for 2 anti foulers because there isn't enough room.

V7 has an option to disable the rear o2.....no CEL.

Might want to check into that versus using baking foil.
