got mine from batinc.net

just don't mount the pump with the pump housing down, because fluid can get in through a hole in the brushes cover
What cooler are you using with the pump?

I have a stock 5 speed but I would love to upgrade to a shep built 6. Will he be selling rebuilt 6 speeds with his gears in them, or is he only selling the new gears?

So to send the tranny in and have them rebuild it with the gears you are probably looking at almost $3500-4k depending on what needs replaced? Wow.

I think a new pool/head count might be smart at this point.

I'll stay on the list, but I'm sure as hell not having the work done on it until a problem arises with the stock transmission.

Those who want OFF of the list PLEASE PM me.

Shep has told me that he may have a change of heart because of some of the comments.
I don't blame the man. Not one bit. However I am trying to prove to him that there will be at LEAST 20+ transmissions that we here, can get out the door ourselves.

Hopefully the list will remain thick, and people are serious. (Crossing fingers)

Note: You don't have to "Ship" your trans to him. Take it to a local shop (I dropped my trans myself in my garage with help from a friend) drive it over, bring the gears/FD(if you got the FD) and have them do a full service on it (I don't see why you wouldn't while your transmission is ripped apart) on your synchros and all the good stuff, all while installing the gears/FD

Also while it's out, it doesn't hurt to weld some bungs for the oil cooler solution. If you don't end up using an oil cooler because money is an issue... just plug both sides, and you can still use them as a fill/drain plug.

I have a feeling that if ANY other company (note that Shep isn't a HUUUGE company, so finding areas to make an honest profit isn't easy) attempted this build, they would charge you out the wazoo for something like this. Shep is barely making anything off of this project. We should be thankful he has done the testing, R&D, and put in the efforts he has thus far. It's almost shameful that some of the community doesn't see it this way, but we are all different, and I cannot hate on anyone. We all have our budget, dreams, and goals. I completely understand if some of the list goes... I can only plan for the worse, and hope for the best.

do you need to run a completely different set of gears or can gears 3-4-5 be replaced as a less expensive package deal for people who are ok with the stock ratio? I ask because I just read this post:

"For those of you with EVO VIII and IX 6 speed manuals that have had problems with the transmission due to increased power output, my company now has a special 3rd/4th/5th gear package that holds up perfectly to big hp and torque.
We've put a lot of miles on our gears running two different maps, one 544 hp and one 583 hp, and have had zero problems. (We broke the stock 4th gear with this same engine, which is why we had these gears designed and manufactured).

For any of you who've driven the manual 6 speed and then driven the older 5 speed, you'll probably agree that the 5 speed feels kind of dinosauric in comparison. The 6 speed is a nicer gearbox, period. The key is handling bigger power.

Thanks, Chris Fisher "

I like this idea but I don't think ill be going further than dp intake catback cams and a tune. But that does not mean I wouldn't be interested in a built 6 speed for safety.
