Also Pesto I have a friend with a 360 Race car, that's what you need! 500+WHP at 2400 pounds.
You know what...given enough tiome with all the good minds on these boards and quality tuners im sure thats a possibility...I had a modena great car but the spider always caught my eye so i had to get one...400hp in the florida weather isnt so bad...but i bet your friend would be impressed with the evo

5 pages of back and forth! Two different opinions, one guy very defensive, the other has his opinions based on his favorite tuner.
..pretty much sums this thread up.

Oh, MP5, don't make me sick my dad on you too!

Why don't you TRY a reflash on your car before you start saying its no good - or better still DONT comment on something you have NO information about ?????????

After what you spent on your evo build up - whats another $2.00 a gallon for gas? How many miles do you think you will drive it ?

He has 3 360's, used to have a NSX that's how I know him. I am going to race him once I get 350whp I will race his 360F1 then his 996TT. If I lose it's time for more mods. :-)

No one guy shooting off his mouth like he knows which end is up becuase he is writing a massive check - - and another guy posting real dyno sheets and real facts

Bottom line is you can make just as much power with a reflash as you can with a stand alone with any application under 450 whp - sure the stand alone gives you some nice features and more end user adjustablity - but it also has greatly increased cost and will never have the stock like driveability and idle of a stock reflashed ecu

I wont do a relfash on a car thats as heavily modified as mine..I wouldnt risk it...

I use my evo as a daily driver ill probably put 18-25k miles on it this year..

I am going to guess 12-15k. It's the damn emissions thing I don't want to screw with.

so, pesto, at 21psi, at what RPM did you find the turbo spooling, what were your a/f's, and was this number aquired with the aid of NOS?... also, though the dyno numbers are awsome , knowing that the stock block of the 4g63 can handle whereabouts of 450hp(basing this on a lil dsm knowledge, I had a GS-T, have seen higher hp ratings on evo blocks) do you feel it was really necessary to install forged rods and pistons, especially since you said you weren't planning to take it to the track ever... unless you raised the rev limiter, was it really necessary for 419hp? just questions, not trying to start anything... thanx

ballpark...id say a well equipped taurus..it wasnt cheap...but what else could you get for 50-60k?(includein the evo) think about it...even after dropping in a full media sytem in the car with navigation...

In the end I probably spent as much as al has without the headaches of rebuilding twice, trial and error, new parts etc...and lets not forget the value of your time...

I have over 300 dyno passes on my car and the reflash has pruven to be very solid and repeatable - at the 450 whp power level - no matter what the temps no matter what you do the a/f 's and timing are consistant and fixed in stone

The stock ecu has millions in development and design - its a very good ecu and can do a lot of things if you have the ability to adjust its settings

AEM is a great company and has a top reputation but they are no

Sure - I am moving to a stand alone - I want a few features it has and plan on running 500 whp on turbo - BUT - its inacurate and false to claim you need a stand alone to run 400 whp

Heck DSM's have been making 400 whp for years with SAFC's
