Actually no, he is not a schemer, he is a top notch drivetrain shop. I bought the clutch kit separately and he does not charge me labor, so what would he get out of it? He rebuilds Evo transmissions everyday and knows his stuff. My stock clutch lasted 40k miles of daily driving and road racing. It now has 42k so he doesn't make any money from me. The decision was based on my driving and transmission longevity. So, no I did not get owned evonam.^^

Can't beat the price either.
A heavier clutch will not cause transmission life to degrade, unless u drive it wrong.

Stock clutches are designed to die before the tranny, diffs, transfer case, etc, therefore an upgraded clutch is only going to lessen the margin for error.

Do you take apart and rebuild transmissions everyday? Probably not. I think I'll take advice from someone who does it for a living. Thanks man.

look eventually, you will have to change the clutch, and with the horsepower your are making, and with the act unit (per act people) all it takes is a warped disc, a bad launch and the clutch has to be resurfaced, or replaced.
I have the act hdss and it was great, but increasing power was an idea of mine and I am making 400+hp, a bad launch and my clutch is gone..
I bought competition clutch race series twin disc and I am waiting so I can install it. ($1350 for clutch)

If your plan is to keep modding the car then you have to consider a twin disc plate.

I switched to the Exedy Twin early on. Love it.

I have a 9 MR too, the exedy SD is amazing. I drove an HD and it was way too touchy for me. I honestly could not tell the difference in pedal feel from the stock clutch to the SD. I was REALLY concerned about clutch chatter, but I NEVER EVER hear it.
