This is true, but it should be noted that it is applicable only where there are two steel faces that rub together at extreme pressures, which is why ZDDP is referred to as an EP (Extreme Pressure) additive. The design of the 4G63 is such that it is relatively insensitive to ZDDP. This is why steel/steel turbo bearings require sufficient ZDDP, while OE steel/bronze types are unaffected. Engines that are sensitive to ZDDP content are mostly those that feature flat tappet or shim/bucket valvetrains, chain gear drives, etc.

Page 46! We have the Lancer Evolution X Forums and the Lancer Evolution 1-9 Forums. What we need is the Lancer Evolution Oil Forums where people could go to talk endlessly about oil.

And even at that, a lot of modern engines use these systems and do not require a high ZDDP oil. Case in point being the 4b11 and Nissan VQ engines.

I didn't think SL was exactly high in Zinc at 1100 PPM, just normal for the 2001-2004 era.

So I only need the 900 ppm for the 4G63?

If you are running the OEM journal bearing turbo, or any ball bearing turbo, yes.
