HTA Green - the best IMHO

Well I finally installed my FP HTA Green and all I can say is WOW. I'll be posting dyno graphs as soon as I am done tuning the car, but as it stands now I am making ~ 440 whp using Virtual Dyno on 91 octane + meth/water injection and STOCK cams @ ~29psi. (Yes the cams are holding me back.)

440 whp & 370 ft lbs - Amazing considering I am on stock block, stock head, stock throttle body (have not yet replaced the seals but need to), stock cams.....

A few observations:
(1) The HTA Green is VERY responsive and there is little lag compared to the factory 9 turbo. So far from my logs, I am able to hit 27 psi with the HTA Green by 3800. It is the best responding turbo I have had on my 9.

(2) Transient response is great with the HTA Green. I can very easily modulate power in a turn and when I get on it, the turbo is ready and able.

(3) It appears the HTA Green can run and hold a ton of boost. I can hold 30+ psi at redline. If I had a built motor and e85 or Race gas, I'd probably be able to run some crazy boost.

(4) Stealth - to the untrained eye, the HTA Green looks 100% OEM - great for us in California (even with the 84mm cover). I actually requested a unit without the FP Green tag to keep it looking OEM.

(5) Sound - the HTA Green definitely has a unique sound - similar to a jet engine. The sound is much more pronounced than the stock turbo (yes I have the larger cover).

In terms of support and Forced Performance - all I can say is they are truly top notch. Robert and the rest of the team have been very patient with me through the process (deciding which turbo, install questions, etc.) and always made me feel like I was a valued customer. Installation was relatively easy - including the routing of the high pressure oil line. Post purchase support has been amazing as well - FP is NOT just interested in selling units, but helping the Evo community. I really cannot say enough positive things about FP - just a great group!

Oh and the HTA Green - it is by far the best turbo that has been on my car. I can hit 30+ psi before 4K rpm and can hold it all the way to redline. If I had a stronger car and/or better mods, I am quite confident I could be close to 500 whp .

It's what I'm getting for my 10 even though I've been tempted going a little bit bigger like red or black.

Nice review!

How is the transient response compared to the bbk or the oem 9 turbo? In city driving conditions?

Can you post any boost spool up compares of the 3 turbos?

Aby - Of course I have all of the data . That said, my previous thread was closed, so I don't want to get into a A vs. B on Evom. The HTA Green hits 30 psi a few hundred RPM (~200) after the stock 9, but can hold 30 psi to redline.

As I posted in first post - item (2), transient response is excellent.

nice review!
Im literally going back and forth between the green and the black, (also waiting on the b) and just cant decide!

any surge from high boost and starting at a lower rpm, say 2000/2500??? Or at any rpm for that matter?

what do u think it would do on pump (no meth)?

Congrats,

I am with the HTA Green but with E-85 conversion @ 30 psi. And yes it pulls hard enough to lift the front end. Well it doesnt lift off, but rises enough for everyone to notice in cabin.

Are you still pimping the stock head studs and bov valve? And what clutch are you using? I am on the stock bov that did hold 25 psi with my stock turbo because I crushed it slightly, but I dont know about now. I did however crush it a little more just in case, but I'm not sure if that would help for 30 psi lol

There is no surge any where in the RPM range. I'm also running the stock bov crushed and it still operates like it was unmodified. I didnt crush it to the point where the nipple is totally bottomed out. Originally I crushed it about half way point from bottoming out to hold 25 psi with my stock turbo. I pressure pressure tested it as well thats why I didnt go any further. But with the HTA Green i didnt pressure test it yet but I did crush it a little more just a couple mm from the nipple touching the bottom base. Yes I know it probably still leaks at 30 psi but I need to get a clutch and cant afford to upgrade the bov right now. But I'm mentioning this just to let you know that even with current condition it doesnt surge or have flutter.

Full spool of 31 psi on my car with stock internals and conservative tune is exactly at 4k rpms in 3rd gear. As I go up in the gears (load increases), hitting full boost becomes even sooner. I'm running FP 25 psi wga and Hallman MBC RX Pro.
