I'm running stock IX motor with HKS 7460 turbo, pushing 400hp with 93. Would AN fittings be worth it for my setup if I get the dual Saikou Michi cans?

no. stock motor has really tight tolerances and doesnt really have blowby.. unless you're experiencing issues, i wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks, so no need for AN fittings or no need for a catch can?

No need for the AN fittings. The catch cans are a good addition even on a completely stock EVO (if there is such a thing!).

Wow, long thread! Just to put my $.02 on it, I run both ports off the valve cover (-8an bungs and line) to a baffled catch can with two breathers and run another hose from the catch can to the downpipe with a stainless check valve. Its worked for all three of my cars, all making 700+hp.

So what catch cans are you running and how do you have them hooked up? Thanks!

After i installed my black i started having pressure issues. My dipstick was blowing out and spraying oil every time i boosted hard (33lbs) So after a lot of reading about different catch can set ups and such to relieve pressure.. mainly the Buschur modified dipstick tube option, i had a thought. Initially i used a spring and that seemed to do the trick but then i thought maybe i will just remove the dipstick so pressure does not build up to the point of blowing oil out. So i removed the stick and put a breather filter on the tube. This seems to be working. It seems to be venting well enough that pressure is not building up and blowing oil up the tube. I checked the filter a dozen times and it was hardly wet with oil. Since i hardly drive the car i just check the oil before i go for a cruise then clamp the breather back on to the tube. Id like to hear what people think of this little idea?

Wow I like it. Now thats thinking with your dipstick. I would just store the dipstick in your trunk though. I might actually do this also. Thanks for the idea

The thread RSMike started about modifying the oil pickup area got me a little more interested in true crank case venting. The reality is, we are not venting crankcase pressure directly when using the valve cover. We are venting pressure from the crankcase that has made it's way UP the oil drain back ports in the head. As we force the air though the oil drains, it will impede oil drain back into the oil pan.

Has anybody setup a vent into the actual crank case area that is of appreciable size? I was thinking that when I do an electric water pump setup, I may also modify the front case to use the blocked off balance shaft hole as a large single vent, like a -16 (1") hose.

What do you guys think about crankcase venting vs. head venting? Any other good places to vent from in the block? The B-shaft holes on the side seem way too small to me to be useful. Could make a good catch can drain though provided you have good ventilation overall.

Looks like they copied STM's Johnny 5 setup.
