You could run a closed baffled catch can to catch most of the oil.

Yeah, I was picturing the use of a catch can routed to the intake if upgrading the line and pushing that much air. I wouldn't wanna dunno it straight in, either. I can only imagine the mess.

All this can give someone a headache quick lol. Especially if you read the whole thread.

To some extent. Catch cans are most effective when they can be held at a cooler temperature. A catch can in the middle of the engine bay isn't going to be super effective. But the good news is that the driver side breather doesn't emit much oil. As Tom said, the baffles are very effective.

not sure if i have crankcase pressure or not, its still the stock setup. i installed an fp red bb and ever since there has been smoke coming out of my exhaust. it smells like oil but spark plugs are dry and the nice tan color. i sent the turbo back to fp and they checked and say its good. Also it only smokes when its at idle or if im using my gears to hold me back going down hill(basically when the car is on full vacuum)

Does any one have suggestions on what it could be?

Most all FP DBB turbos have this issue. Read through this thread and setup a proper crankcase vent setup.

For starters open up the valve cover side port to 1/2 or 5/8 and see if that helps.

Did the half inch breather setup you did fix your issue asu11?

I am currently testing it out still.

I have the entire setup connected and have been running it for a few weeks now. I'm gonna pull the intake this weekend to see if oil is still pooling up inside it post me cleaning everything out.

Maybe so but with an FP black you WILL push oil into the can. With an FP green jb turbo the can was always empty even running 21psi. I just emptied my catch can and cleaned the ic and piping.

I'm a bit confused by your statement. I thought the issue with older FP turbos was oil getting into compressor housing. I wasn't aware of FP turbos causing more oil to be pushed into the vent lines.

The previous gen FP BB turbos "seemed" to have an issue. However, with the new Xona center section, the issue may have been dealt with. Running a larger turbo/higher boost & hp, the solution TSComp suggests is smart insurance.

I will see what happenes when my FP Red is on my new motor. I (of course) will let people know how that works out.

I was contrasting the oil in piping difference between my old school fp green jb turbo and this new dbb fp black. The DBB fills up the catch can where the jb never had any oil in it. The DBB sounds way cooler though.

cool - this thread is still alive

for various reasons im thinking about going VTA, but im worried about 2 things:
a) less (none) vacuum in the crank case - and the affect on ring sealing? is this really a thing on street cars? i would have though even with the stock setup you wouldn't get much vacuum in the crankcase because you have the rear breather (on the X) feeding fresh air to the case...

b) oil quality? i saw a post saying you should change oil more frequently, im not overly keen since oil is pretty $$$ (for good stuff here in Aus anyways), has anyone done an UOA's with VTA vs recirc? be good to get some real data
