sure would have been nice to be told that up front...so now i have to wait around for a stupid spacer or modded pump. I would have easily have bought this with the kit if it was included. my buschur motor is actually a awd motor built by buschur.

guess i should have done more research and went a kit that have everything included.

There are probably 20 things to know about assembling a shortblock with the head that will cause a failure.. Which i always hope those who choose to assemble their $3000.00 motor know them otherwise that 3k turns into 6k and then maybe 9k until they get it all right.. Not having a spacer wont blow the motor.. but dozens of other things can.. I try to remember EVERYTHING my customers need.. a little patience and a LOT of research can save you 1000s in the long run..

Let's get it started then! The more accurate information out there the better for all. So much misinformation floats around these days it awesome when the pros step in with their contributions.

Sorry, the information isn't coming from myself and probably not Mike either. My shop isn't called "DIY Racing and Free Tech".

It's quite simple, pick up the phone, order the engine and have it shipped. We specialize in that service and are sure to send what is needed with it.

I contribute more testing and tech than any other single shop out there. I'm not providing DIY engine building information. I'd like to stay in business a few more years and I can't do it selling head gaskets and water pump spacers for $20 profit.

I wouldn't use a spacer and I wouldn't use anything but an OEM head gasket either, learn the hard way, we did.

86.5mm is stock bore. Its hard to get a block that you can use the drop in pistons the first time, I suggest going to 87mm unless you can have a few checked prior to purchase. Or order the pistons slightly oversized (like 86.6mm) and then have it honed to fit which is what I did on my current motor. The next one will just be an 87mm though.

Stock bearing sizes an stock rod length work okay, 156mm rods if you want a long rod also require the "stroker" piston with raised compression height. They will be on the shelf before too long according to Wiseco and I have heard Manley has them but I havent seen them myself.

Omg! Thanks Aaron

2) Stock length BC I beam rods (Current rod length 150mm)
3) Stock size ACL race bearings

The 2.3L pistons use the same bore as the 2.0l with the wristpin moved up 6mm. With that being said I would opt for 86mm in your situation as we always prefer to overbore whenever possible. You could reuse the rods if you like and the bearings will be the same but I would recommend new ones. That HG will work as long as you don't go larger than 86mm bore, and the Manley 100mm crank is a great option, I would love to help you source any items you decide on as well
