Grinding/whining noise when I get above 5mph

I had all the transmission fluids changed on monday and gave the engine new oil, filters and plugs. Have gone to take te ar to work this morning and it's making a strange grinding noise above 5mph in a straight line and right turns. Left turns it seems to go away. Sounds like it is coming from the front right but can't be sure. Definitely speed/rotational dependent and changes with speed. From the videos I've seen I'm sure its not Transfer case.

I'm due to have tyres fitted at lunch time today and take the car to Germany next wednesday.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it just the cold with the fluids? Im concerned about driving it with this noise as it wasn't there last time I had it out.

Thanks
Ant

Jack up the front of your car and turn a wheel clockwise/counterclockwise. The opposing wheel should spin the opposite way. If there's too much resistance to move it or grinding, your center diff is gone. Probably the spider gears.

Ok thanks will give that a go, see if I can get the tyre place to jack both front sides up to start with so I can give them a spin.

I'm going to try and video the noise on the way there as well.

Cheers,
Ant

Tried this when they had the front in the air. Other wheel turned in opposite direction and was pretty easy. Not like spinning a bike tyre, but certainly not difficult to turn considering wheel weight etc.

I'd check too see if the fluids you had changed are really in there.

I was stood under the car with the bloke doing it the whole time so I know the fluids are there. They're doing what they can to assist but due to work, xmas etc etc I can't get back to them for further investigation so I'm looking for things I can check at home.

Will be looking for obstructions/contacts on the propshaft and driveshafts.

I think its too harsh and too "all of a sudden" for a wheel bearing as my experience is that these start off with a humming which gets progressively worse. I would also expect to be able to move the wheel somewhat if the bearing was shot.

Been told to check the exhaust isn't contacting the prop shaft too so will check that tomorrow afternoon. Keep the suggestions coming.
