Hey guys,

Read the last 30 pages and couldn't really find what I was looking for...

I have a built 2.0L with Mivec, S2 cams running on E85 and was looking for 550-600whp.

As it's a circuit car, I want the turbo to make 20 psi from around 4000rpm.

Was looking at the 7670 with T4 1.05AR and external wastegate, but from what I have read, looks like the 7163 makes almost as much power with much better response? But, I am not sure whether the 7163 will reach my power goals.

Anyone have a rough idea what rpm an 8374 would make 20psi on a Mivec 2.0L? I am thinking that it will be too laggy for my application?

76/70 with a .92 smaller ar...
the 83/74 spools like a GT30R but too much air for a 2 liter, expect some surging issues...

7670 bolted to ultimate build motor in kill mode with E85 is good for maybe 575 whp. 7163 looks to be a bit less, maybe 550 whp. Assuming you don't plan to track in kill mode, you need to either lower your whp goal, consider an 8374, or look at other turbos.

I know of 3 local cars (AUS) that went over 400kwaw (~540hp) with the 7670. Not sure what that is converted to US DJ, assume this is close (if not more) than 575hp DJ

Confident mine will exceed 400aw too, still compiling parts so no build thread but will post one shortly

Agree a 7163 would be ideal for a 2.0L, would pull out of corners like nobodies business. Hang it off a low mount Aussie made Hypertune manifold too of course

not sure if you are talking whp or bhp numbers. there is a very experienced guy on this forum who did a kitchen sink 2.2L build around a TS EWG 7670. lots of very nice custom parts he made himself. at ~550 whp dj, he gave up trying to make power. he estimated he could have made 575 whp if he had really pushed it. there was also a guy that made 600 whp with a 2.3L build on a dynapack, but unclear how that converts to dj values. even if its 1:1, the turbine wheel failed not long after obtaining the dyno data, something that efrs have been know to do when overspun.

i really want to believe the 7670 can do better, but i have yet to see it on any platform, at least for the twin scroll. i call up bw about every six months to ask them to incorporate their mft tech into a turbo slightly larger than a 7670. no willingness to do such a thing yet, but they did acknowledge in my most recent call that there is interest in this power range. bw moves pretty slow, so i wouldn't count on a new product anytime soon, however if anyone is excited by the prospect, email or call bw to express interest.

My post count may not show it but I am familiar with the RTErnie build threads (assuming this is the 'kitchen sink' build you refer to). Nice build, yes, I used it as a bit of inspiration for mine.

My build will differ in some areas, should be a good comparison.

Hypertune LM Manifold, 3.5" exhaust, plenum, intake etc etc

Not sure if classifies as 'kitchen sink' but I think it should throw down some nice numbers

yep, i was referring to RTErnie's build. lots of good stuff. so 405 kw = 543 hp. why do you think it would equate to ~575 whp dj? dyno runs on dyno dynamics or mustang? anyhow, good luck with the build. i'd love to see somone do 600 whp dj.

if you plan to push to the limit, a speed sensor would be a good idea. uvambo's 8374 lived happily at 28 psi out the top for a long time. he got the itch to do some roll racing, so i tuned it to 32 psi at his request and picked up good power. not long after, the turbine wheel literally came out the exhaust in the middle of a race (perhaps a testament to his free flowing exhaust). bw estimated that he overspun it by about 20k rpm. he has now man'ed up to a 9180.

i'd really like to know what 7163 do on evos because I decided to drop my plans on installing a fp 71 hta on my built 2.0 and do the 7163 instead... in T4 twin scroll form. This turbo looks like something that will produce the powerband I want with good numbers on top.. As a matter of fact, it is not the max numbers that are interesting about the efr but the response and sheer width of the torque/power band..

Considering the evo x guys are posting 750+whp dyno graphs of their 8374 and there are no 7670 dynos showing anything close to 600 I'd say BW should not have too much trouble seeing the case. I'd personally want a 7670 built in 7163 style that can hit 600.

The other option is switching the exhaust housing to a custom one if people like tial make one. I know Eric used the investment cast bw one for his build just because that's what was available. Maybe a large A/R vband housing will hit 600?

BW did state that the MFT technology didn't scale well. Didn't really work when they tried to duplicate it in larger sizes... just worked at that size. At least that's what I remember being told 2-3 years ago when they just started talking about the 7163.

In my personal experience the Dynapack versus the Dynojet, they read identically up to around 450-500whp. Once they get to around 700, I've seen the same car put down 770 on a Dynpack which did 725 on a Dynapack (MKIV Supra I tuned) SAE corrected on both. So my current thought is that they start to deviate above 500hp and are off by as much as 45-50whp by the time you make it to 750. Which jives with my experience with the 7670 especially when compared to leet's 7670 numbers on the Dynapack. Scale that down a touch and you're at 580awhp, which is on par with what I saw on a DJ (with 285's and 10.5" wide ccw's)

The 8374 is probably what you want if you think you want the 7670. And if you think you want the 8374... you'll probably actually want the 9180. I'm about 4 hours of free time away from swapping to the 9180 and ditching the 8374. The EFR's really don't like to make power at high RPM at high P.R.'s, I believe because the turbine wheel is designed to be soo great at spool up/transient response it gives up a little much on the top end. I believe a GTX/PTE/FP turbo will make more peak power on an evo at 9k mm for mm of wheel than the EFR's. In any size. But I still prefer to have the response of the EFR Which is why I've had the 7670, 8374, and probably... move to the 9180. After that I'll have to buy something with a v engine so I can put two EFR's on it.

Hello guys,
Names Fritz and this is my stock block full race efr setup. the quality is second to none. I probably have driven Geoff to drink over this last week. learned a lot about the kit and the efr. I'm excited to see where we end up all said and done.

Yep that sounds about right, though Dyno Dynamics (which are prevalent in Oz, and what the dyno plot above is from) make Dynojet and Dynapack look like they are spitting out made up results and seem almost like they'd break the heart of someone used to Mustang dynos.
