New BW EFR Turbo Thread
At least we can look forward to some dyno comparisons between the EFR's and the new BB FP black/red/greens.
Good things come to those that wait I guess.

Had time to kill, so i checked up again on this thread...
The effects of "premature-propaganda"; hilarious!
Thank you EFR, I now know what 'not to do' with my business: advertising a product while attached to unconfirmed product delivery schematics; the huge importance that a set-in-stone "Release Date" entails.
It's interesting to see how this product's 'awe' is turning into...

Too early to tell. As a vetran of product design/development a soft launch with high expectations and demand is far better than flooding the market with disapointing product that doesn't meet expectations or fails.
Whoah....
Talk about "product delivery ways"...
FP just released a Ball Bearing Black; like out-of-nowhere-today.
Weird.

I agree with this. Better to keep your mouth shut about it and then surpirse it on everyone with the fantastic results. The way they did will generate more lost sales than had they kept their mouth shut about in the first place. I already cancelled my order for the 9180 and went with the 3794HTA. Just too long.
All of the preparing the housings to make sure they are right and finding a new manufacture should have been done behind scenes and not prior to it being released.
AMS did this with thier F1 manifold and I waited and waited and waited only to be told this or that. They didn't release any results from the one they did have. So I went with the Magnus V5 which has comparable gains.
They are just loosing sales each day they delay this.
Get your ducks in a row and then release it.
It seems this is happening more an more with every company out there... They know there's a big market for their products so why not actually make them and have companies have them in stock before any announcements or sales? A few friends as well as myself have ordered a turbo from major vendor only to be given the run around for 6 months or more saying they're on back order or aren't coming in. But they have no problem taking our $1500-$2500 up front first though... If the Evo and others are going to survive there has to be a better effort by all parties, customers and vendors. Or people will just keep canceling orders or buying used.
Isn't the whole issue with the EFR delay related to a quality problem from a couple of their suppliers? So they had a product, they were happy with the prototypes, went to put it into production and made a huge media push on it (I have an EFR SSE Evo poster in my cube looking at me) and then found the production release was hampered with massive quality problems from the suppliers. They made the choice to resource the suppliers to get a decent product out rather than push it out with the subpar components. That seems like the only sensible thing to do from their standpoint... and resourcing something like that can take many months. It sucks for the end customer who was told they could expect the turbo any day and then waits months for a product with no news, but there isn't much they can do.
I'm not surprised there is a big glut of new turbo products to eat up all of that money people would have spent on an EFR turbo.

Casting quality on their SS turbine housings was not up to BW QC department... they went to another casting house...same issue. From what I've heard they're onto their 3rd supplier of TS ss turbine housings.
Understandable issues that were handled in the best way, still doesn't turn back the clock. Delivery dates & deadlines have come and gone. I'm sure BW is super pleased about all the issues as well. It's a crappy situation when schedules slide... usually the customer ends up unhappy. suprise!
Enough ******* on BW. I'm still excited for their EFR series and I'm excited to see results and get a few of them in my hands on onto cars.

now how long that takes to make sure the quality is top notch is questionable
i think what they are doing is smart. they know that in this community, if their product's quality sucks, they will have no chance of recovering. yea, the wait sucks, but they have to cover their asses so that they can make it though just the first and second batches of these turbos and make money
me too
