Rebuilding Transmission?
So some of you might know that i recently blew my 5th gear synchro and now my transmission is acing up. I have a shop that i can go to local and were gunna tear out the trans and look at it, im planning on rebuilding everything that looks like it needs to be built... to get to the point, Sheptrans, TRE, Buschur ETC... all offer there "built" transmission for the evo 8/9/10 im wondering if i could put different internals in my transmission to be able to support the power im making, at a lot less of the cost. (500 whp 400 wtq) Time is an issue also thats why i cant send it out to any of them until probably next year.
The other option would be just to rebuild the transmission and not have it "built" would the 5 speed handle that power for a good 30k miles lets say?

the stock 5 speed should handle that much power forever as long as you keep up with maintenance and don't launch it often. But if i were in your shoes id just get it built and be done with it!

The actual gears in a stock 5 speed can handle all the power you can throw at them. All you would need to do is throw in new syncros and stuff. Thats basically all the shops do anyway, but they arent just factory syncros and they do their tricks to get them to shift better
Evo parts and cheap dont go together. Do it right and save your pennies and have a shop do it.

I rebuilt my trans at home with a hydraulic press and a couple of hand tools. Synchros are very easy to replace. Just get a copy of the evo manual, and you should be able to knock it out in a weekend. You can get a nice rebuild kit from TRE with everything you will need for about $600.
