Looks to me that something came loose and fell into your intake - OR maybe something was rattling about your intercooler and finally came out and hit the wheel

Forced Performance can get you a new center section for that turbo a lot cheaper than HKS and its the same garret GT unit

I would say your engine HAS to come apart for inspection and prob has major damage in the combustion chamber - if what AEM said today was true and they were running your car after that damage and unable to hold boost I would wager that your engine is prob shot

Thats a foreign body in your intake track - or - possibly major compressor surge due to a faulty BOV set up - - my money is on a loose object hitting the wheel

Without a clearer shot its hard to tell

Take a look on to of your pistons and combustion chamber and see what kinds of metal are embeded into them - that may give some more hints

Did they change the thottle body on your car ? Look at the screws on the shaft

I would pull the intake OFF and look at the two screws that hold the butteryfly to the shaft - they have a habit to sometimes fall off if they are not super tight with locktight

I am very confident that YOUR problem here has nothing to do with the AEM - - a misfire/backfire damage whould explode the turbine wheel (if anything) - - to me you have foreign body contamination

Tell me - did you have severe compressor surge when lifting the gas pedal ?? How was the tune on the BOV - did it work well ? Did you hear that whoop, whoop, whoop sound when you lifted the gas?

something went through that puppy. Was there an air filter on the intake the whole time the engine was running?
Al, the throttle body screws are upstream buddy!

I have a question AL, If a screw were to come off the t-body,
how the hell would it find its way into the front of the turbo,
being that it is after the intercooler, or are you tring to say that
it went in the oppisit direction, back through the intercooler piping, through the intercooler and back through the impeler!
And by the way if you have enough shaft play, the edges of the blades, will rub on the housing, and knock off the edges of the wheel as this one has, and consequently throughing debree all
around the compressor housing.

there is no way that the turbo is faulty, that has been cause by some foregin matter making its way into the front of the turbo.

looks to me like the air filter was off and something was dropped in there or sucked in there, too much damage for comp surge, usually comp surge will just break the shaft in half if it is bad enough,

i never do dyno runs with the filter off it is asking for trouble

Hey Martin, Frank from SFP here, hope all is well, as for this it has allways had a filter on it. It does have alot of shaft play, enough
that even after all the material it has take off the blades, it still rubs the housing.

I dont think anything went through it...couldnt have the air filter was on the car and nothing between it and there....Im more concerned about the engine and if this pissed any chunks of metal or even shavings that could be dangerous...
