Radiator doesn't suck in antifreeze..
Sorry if theres already a thread about this kind of thing i looked and a lot that i find aren't what im looking for.. so i got my car back from a shop and they said after they drove it all the antifreeze pushed out the overflow.. They said it might be the cap and put on a new one. i drove home (like 30 miles) and after i let everything cool off i check and the radiator was still dry and the overflow was just about overflowing, right to the top... any ideas? help is much appreciated.
And a reputable shop would be able to test this for you with a block tester. Its a tool that plugs the radiator filler opening with a blue fluid in it. You use a small rubber suction device that pulls air from the radiator through the fluid. If it turns yellow your getting fuel fumes/exhaust in the coolant indicating a bad headgasket. Some auto parts stores sell them and you can do it yourself. Literally takes 10 - 15 minutes.
Edit: If you want to do it yourself Autozone has the tool for about 25 bucks and the fluid for about 8.

Damn that sucks. And you drove without any coolant? What kind of shop did you take your car to? They sounds like they didn't check ur car just kinda guessed then gave it back to you. Did they try to figure this out? Or did you not ask them? I'm confused why you would post here when your car was already at a shop...
I hope you get this taken care of soon before anything happens. GL dood

sounds like your "speedshop" might have been doggin your car out tryin to find that whistlin noise. just my 2 cents.if it didint happen before and now it is i say its there fault
First, the only time coolant is pulled from the jug is when there is vacuum in the cooling system. This occurs as the engine cools, not when driven and only if the system is tight. Second, it sounds like the shop lifted the head while testing.
hope you can prove it was the shops fault.. you may need to speak with who test drove the car.
Yeah when it's cool the overflow is still way full. And idk how they lifted the head by driving it?
