Everyone on this site is gonna be like "YEAH DO IT MAN!!!" but did you ever stop to think that if you're having doubts that MAYBE your gut is trying to tell you something? You're gonna put yourself in a huge hole because of all the "hidden" costs to running the FP Black and for what? You already have a beast of a car. Just enjoy what you have.
Well said.

I never said modding an EVO was cheap. But you also have to be smart about how you mod. I ask myself all the time: Why am I buying this mod? What consequences are there as a result of upgrading to X, Y or Z?

The OP already has a great setup and appears to be on the fence on whether or not to get the Black. If he's stressing so much over this decision, then maybe it's not the smartest decision to make. He's about to spend $4000 dollars on a whole new turbo setup (including the other necessary upgrades to safely run the Black). He's already worried about the torque on his HTA Green that could destroy his bottom end. That doesn't sound like someone who's ready to step up to the Black. Why upgrade if you're not ready to build the motor along with it???? What was the point of the HTA Green if you can't even run it to its true potential? I'm not criticizing the OP, I'm just throwing out some questions he should be asking himself.

It's great that you love your FP black setup, but you can't speak for everybody. Faster doesn't always = more fun. ESPECIALLY in this case when the OP said that this car is his DD. I know none of us bought an EVO for luxury or comfort but who the hell wants to DD a car that has a **** idle, **** poor gas mileage and poor acceleration from a stop?

The car isnt my dd, and one of my reasons for going with a black is because of the tq. The tq comes on later with the black as opposed to the hta green. The low end tq is what is throwing rods. The green has plenty of the low end tq. The black, the tq comes on later, keeping it in the upper rpm range, which helps save the stock block. The point is, I would throw a rod quicker with the green than I would with the black if i continue to push it. I feel the green is just about to its potential on a stock block. Im not 100% on this, but it seems if I keep pushing it, I am gonna be driving a ticking time bomb as the tq numbers are gonna rise pretty quick with the power.

I am prolly gonna pass on the black as of now. I feel I should just stick with the car the way it is. Plus, I am looking at gettin a bike anyways. At least with a bike, the 4k I spend on it, I can get it back. If I dump 3k into the evo right now, its gone lol.

Nice! A bike would be a nice toy to have. You know what they say: "if you wanna go fast, go two wheels." God knows I want one so bad.

Just so we're clear, I'm not trying to criticize your modding path man. I've spent a lot of money on my car too (including just buying my own HTA Green!) so I know how the game works. I just noticed that you were very indecisive and if you really had your heart set on upgrading, you would have bought it already. Was just trying to give a little advice...the decision is ultimately yours.

Best of luck with everything!

I understand completely. Everyone wants to be faster, including myself. I just dont want to spend the money right now on it though. The black seemed like a good choice, which still is, but I just dont want to spend the cash on things like that. AS much as I would love too, I would just rather play with it in other ways lol. I hope the guys takes my offer on the bike. I would really like to pick one up. I had a gsxr600 last year and traded it for a car, which I ended up parting out lol.

I've had a couple of bikes over the last coupel of years. Just sold my 08 1KRR a few months ago. 1st litre bike I've owned and it was a BLAST. I sold it to complete my Evo rebuild but I'm cracking out. I will be getting another bike next year. Either a Ducati 848 Evo or a BMW S1000RR. I'll settle on another Honda 1000RR if I can't afford either but 2 wheels are different a different world.

Funny thing is my car will be as fast as a motorcycle (hopefully).

You'll have a lot of fun on the bike just be careful.

I know lots of k series guys running the precision stuff and love it to death. On a bb turbo 100psi oil pressure will blow the seals.
