shift problem

I am so confused I need everyones help.. I just my motor and everything back in because I had the motor built. I got all together and the shift is like stuck in fifth reverse.. so my first thought is its the linkage on the tranny so I unbolted them and it moves sloppy freely but it moves. But as soon as I bolt it back down its like Whatever two gears it was in its very stiff and won't get gears ?? The cables aren't twisted and when I pulled it the gears and shifting was never an issue it was actually the best thing about my car shepped tranny. So someone please tell me the little stupid thing I'm missing pleaseeeee

He said that if unbolted from the tranny it moves freely so I didn't think it's the bushing or the "cup" thingy.
OP: You didn't disassemble the shifter did you?

I did not disassemble the shifter in the car at all and now that I'm looking at it.. the white plastic moon thing isn't even there?? Is that an issue? And I didn take the linkage off the tranny and move the gears on the tranny around then out it back on and I got movement and It seems like more gears but still doesn't feel right

Try taking the whoel linkage outside the firewall off and grease them with a layer of white lithium grease.

Have you replaced your stuck shifter base bushings?
