boost leak or BOV problem?

I can't get boost to go above 29 psi, and it drops off to about 25 psi by 6k and 21 psi by 7k

I have a hallman MBC so I believe that is normal taper... but the reason the boost won't go past 29 psi is because of a boost leak, right?

I have a synapse synchronic DV if that helps

edit : I'm doing a boost leak test tomorrow, just want to know if it IS a boost leak that causes the boost not to go higher than 29 psi

Get a higher psi wastegate. It'll allow you to run the higher boost. You've maxed out the hallman. Just make sure to turn down the boost controller when you get the new wastegate. I'd recommended a 25 psi since you're looking to run over that daily.

Is it tuned for that boost? Stock turbo? 21PSI by 7K RPM is all stock turbo could do. What gear was it when you got 29 PSI?

Switched out the hallman with a buschur mbc and it still wouldn't go above 29 psi... rules out the mbc.

I don't think its the wastegate... people have hit 30+ psi on stock wastegate haven't they?
Maybe my boost gauge is off a couple psi and its really hitting 30ish psi rather than 28-29 psi
Doing a boost leak test today and will post an update.

it's your wastegate. I have a friend who couldn't hold it or get it there also, with the wastegate. Also, make sure your throttle body shaft seals aren't leaking. That is the sneaky boost leak that robs you and you don't know

Just an update for everyone

There are no noticeable boost leaks on the car

Turns out my gauge was off by about 1 psi, so it was really hitting 30, not 29.

SOLUTION: I added preload to the DV, connected both ports A and B and was able to turn the boost higher. Some of my partial throttle flutter went away too
