There is an interesting thread on the burcher site about breaking in motors. Seems there is some data to suggest that on modern cars with better honing, beating the car right from the begining is good for the motor.

Some race guys tested motors that were broke in nice vs. not so nice and the not so nice ones had a little more HP.

As far as I know and do. On new cars change the oil around 1300-2000 miles for the first time then about every 2000-3000 miles after. keep it easy on the car for the first 400-600 miles and yes if you buy it and head straight from the dealership 1000 miles as long as you are going to vary the speed you should be fine. But keep in mind on multi metal engines where the head and block are different material you might want to give it a few warm up and cool down cycles. This will allow the gasket and the block and the head to match up correctly.
So bottom line run your car hard but dont run it too hard change the oil regularly. you and your car should be cool.

Boost saved my car from a lady who ran a red light...

I was making a left turn on a 4-way intersection. The traffic light already turned red, but a lady decided not to stop. My EVO was right in front of her car, so the only option was to floor it. The boost kicked in and pulled the car off from the scene. I looked at my rear-view mirror and the lady was there doing sideway braking (no ABS ) I almost got a heart attack but I was lucky.
The question is... since my car had 220 miles, will that do any harm to the motor? I let off before 5K rpm but I kinda worry about it. Please help me guys.

You worry to much just like I use to but no, that did not do anything to your car. However, if your flooring the car all day and only have 200mi, it can cause your car to not break-in properly and could possibly create problems for you in the future.

Cool Scot
I got a call from my Subaru dealer today. They say if I want the STi on June 1st, I have to pay $5000 over the sticker. Glad I got the EVO.
