Cam card is gonna be hard to find being there all the same grind but as you know all parts can be different. I would search and see if you can find the proper cam adjustment for the 2.4 that way this doesnt happen again.

In other words, set the cosworth cams to stock cam timing (as opposed to the timing recommended on the cosworth cam card), and then adjust for the 2.4L (-3.75 on the adjustable gear)?

Honestly Idk. I have asked a buddy with a 2.4 and his answer was as useless as **** on a bull. I will see if i can come up with an answer for you though. Maybe someone who has a 2.4 can chime in. I don't want to give you an answer and it be wrong rather then not answer and search for the correct one.

Basically to get the cams "straight up" on a 2.4L you would retard the gears 3.75* to make up for the 6mm deck height difference...since you have mivec I am not uber clear what needs to be done to the mivec cam gear on a 2.4L...

If you had checked piston to valve clearance in max mivec, you should not have this problem. But I guess you did not checked this?

Thanks. That's pretty much my understanding as well. Unfortunately it turned out to be the head gasket letting go.

All clearances check out. The head gasket went. I'm looking into why as we speak.

I'll probably do an AMS gasket this time. At least until i know it's running right.

Sorry to hear about your luck. Did you already pull the head? You will want to check the head and deck surfaces if you had an issue with your head gasket.

I did pull the head. We did check the surfaces prior to the build, but we'll certainly be checking again..

The problem i suspect comes down to the tune. The tune was NOT intended for anything but a break in. The person driving the car put his foot into it. I wasn't even logging the car when it happened . So it's likely going to get an AMS 2.4 gasket, and this time the car isn't moving without being logged.

Also, when taking the head off the car, the nuts on the head studs were less than the tq they were installed at. hmm

PE, but i don't think it was the HG's fault. I'm going to the AMS b/c it's cheaper and I don't want to pop another one at that price. My HP goals are only 550whp (dynojet) so the AMS one should suffice.

So if I am going to disregard the cosworth cam card, how are people setting cam timing? Timing marks? Does anyone have cam info for stock timing??

Thanks.
