I can relate to what Michael @ ETS mentioned in his post about the high efficiency core allowing the tuner to run more timing/boost at the top of 3rd gear. This allows for a safer more powerful tune.

On here it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Garrett 3.8" core is a highly efficient heat exchanger. It is used by Buschur and CBRD, and can be requested from ETS.

ETS has developed a new core design which they claim is extremely efficient. This can be had as a true 4" thick core. The new ETS cores are also available in thicker 5" and 6" versions and thinner versions as well.

Incidentally, Garrett does manufacture a 4.5" core which Buschur used to employ in producing his BFIC intercooler.

You can't go wrong with either ETS, AMS, or Buschur.

The core pictured above looks to be our ETS 4.0" core. We use a greater amount of charge rows than a Garrett core. The reason for the extra charge rows is to give us more heat transfer plates (The plate located on the top and bottom of the charge row). By having more heat transfer plates we get greater heat transfer in the same area. By having more heat transfer we can loosen up the internal fin pack which allows for less pressure drop. It's win/win. We also use a different type of fin pack that makes more contact with the charge row than our competitors who use a /\ fin pack.

(Competitor)

/\ - Fin packs only transfer heat at the very tip.

(ETS)

TT - We get double the area of fin contact with the heat transfer plate which results in greater heat transfer area.

18 Charge Rows (ETS) vs 14 Charge Rows (Garrett)

That's a quick run down.

Thanks!

Michael

UUmmm. Thanks for the info Ratster, my friend. I know very little about JMFab personally. What I do know about them I have learned on here. They apparently are a top notch outfit. I did not mean to exclude them from my short list. If CBRD uses their services then they must be good. Anyway, thanks

No prob i have the 3.8 core and it fit completely unmodified in my bumper and beam. Important for some.. although anarchy 99 has me digging a 5" ets core haha
