Setup Help?????

Hey guys I've done a write up like this before I'm just generally trying to finalize everything now so I can order my parts and get this build started here goes. I can't really get any direct awnsers. Im concerned with fittment issues I dont want to order a part then find out it doesnt fit when it gets here haha. I'm new with this stuff so some of these questions may sound stupid.


Car:2006 Lancer Evolution IX SSL
Trans:5 Speed
Power goals: Shooting for low mid/low 10's in the 1/4 500+hp
Use: Street/Track


I'm going to try to explain this the best I can:


This is a list of the parts I already have I bought these before I bought the car due to a license suspension. These are what are going on the car but I'm mainly concerned with the parts im ready to buy are they quality parts? and are there going to be and fittment issues?


1.FMIC-ETS 3.5 Front Mount & Piping
2.Exhaust-Ams TBE

The following is the list I plan on purchasing Im just generally looking for input and suggestions on these parts as well as a few im undecided on.

7.Throttle Body-Mil.Spec 65mm TB*
8.Injectors-Not sure about size recomendations????
9.Turbo-Fp HTA 3586*
10.Valves- Should I upgrade these recomendations????
11.Intake- Perrin Intake

******* Also do I need to buy anything else that I'm missing?******* should I get a shortblock, pistons, connecting rods, engine management ect

I've left these out as well these are parts im planning to purchase.

*Brake Lines- Stainless Steel Brake Lines-$115.00
*Coil On Plug- Spoolin Up Coil On Plug-$430.00

Also should I get Acl Race Bearings? Is it nessesary to upgrade axles, bottom end? generally what can I safely run?

Also the tranny and TC are getting built by John Shepard and the tune is going to be done at buschur racing thanks again guys .

Hey Ryan

Lets start with O2 housing
I think if you go with something like MAPs or if you want to get pricey FP, or AMS, Map you would be ok.

Exhaust mani unless you are going tubular map stock ported.
Injectors I would go FIC 1450's unless your going e85 then id go FIC 2150s
Valves you can keep stock. The smaller size will allow for the turbo to spool a bit faster.
Motor wise I would just keep it the way it is and have a good tuner tune it and keep it safe then worry about it if it goes boom.

Thank you for the fast response I was thinking aboout FIC 1450's and im looking more toward a tubular EM rather than a stock ported one any suggestions on those?

Think about the bottom end even more so of you plan to push more then 400TQ. They are a ticking time bomb after that. If your core is good think about a 2.3 and if not look at a 2.4. You don't want to spend all that cash just to blow your motor and cause damage to other supporting parts. But yeah MAP has all amazing stuff get in touch with Adam he will help you out for sure.

Tubular manifold is a waste of money at that power level IMO, they look pretty, I had one, it robbed 20+ whp and spool time from me.

I went with the stock ported unit from AWD Motorsports, MAPerformance, and Buschur all do as well just different heat coatings, all great units. AWD's unit has been proven at 650whp on Diiiiirks car (he is a stock ECU tuner for AWD Motorsports).

Also at that power level it might do you some good to get a FPR to go along with 1450's if that is the injector you are going to be going with. I think I run 1600's with an Aeromotive FPR to go along with it, then again I am on E85... 1450's on pump sith that turbo still may need the FPR though.

Who is building the car btw?

All this tq stuff reminds me of all the supposed crank walk theorys in the 2g dsm. Funny how 99% of them crankwalked before late 96, and everything after that was due to improper clutch installations.

Okay guys there is the list of parts I need to get I realize it's going to be a pain in the *** to try and sift through all of this info, I tried to simplize it as much as possible. I'm not planning on doing this build until April/May so not a big rush to get this done if anybody out there would be willing to take the time to help me figure this all out I would appreciate it very much. Well after you listed the FP turbo, none of the DSM things you listed below that are going to fit. Also Toxic fab only makes manifolds for stock frame turbos.

Are you looking to go into a T3 kit, or something that is stock frame and will bolt right into place of the stock turbo?

Ummmmm no I don't, I have stock frame manifold both bolt on and forward facing, regular position t3, t4, and t4 twin scroll and v band set ups, also any type for forward facing manifold you can think of. Who ever said I "only" make stock replacement manifolds was very mistaken.
