EVO VI clutch question..

Clutch just went out on my EVO.. previous owner advised me that it has an ATS + Across pressure plate, clutch(carbon) and lightweight flywheel.

I'm looking for the cheapest replacement clutch that will work with this setup. I don't care if it's stock, ACT.. whatever. I'm not trying to dump anymore money into this car then I absolutely have to.

Bit more information about the car.. stock engine, turbo(boosting 1.3bar), tuned PFC, full exhaust.. think that's about it for performance.

I'm in Japan, but can get stuff mailed to me USPS. If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it.. and thanks in advance.

Check the Diameter on the clutch disc, the Evo 5,6 is 228mm and the 7,8,9 is 240mm. The flywheel is diferent. I have a AP Clutch Kit on few miles.

ACT HD and Flywheel is a good option. Carbonetics and Exedy twin plate is more heavy duty for launchs cars.

Hi,

In Australia our Evo Specialist recommend:

Good for your power level
Exedy Clutch Kit Sport Organic - EVO4-6
Exedy Clutch Kit Sport Organic 240mm EVO4-6
Kit includes Clutch Cover, Clutch Plate, and Release Bearing.
This kit requires a 240mm EVO 7-9 flywheel.
$800AUD without flywheel
$1285AUD with flywheel

FOR higher powered cars
Exedy Clutch Kit Twin Plate - EVO4-6
includes Clutch Cover, Clutch Plate, and Lightened Flywheel
$2500AUD

(Prices exclude fitment labor)

So if I find out the diameter of the clutch plate I can put any clutch plate of the same diameter in there?

Found an old thread on here where someone said they used an EVO 8 clutch in their EVO 6 without any issues.. can anyone else verify this is possible??

Also had the wife call ATC about getting just a replacement clutch from them.

Single Carbon - $1,100
Single Metal - $350

So yea.. im pretty sure I can find cheaper from somewhere outside of Japan..

You can use CT9A clutches on CN9A/CP9A evos but you have to use the flywheel aswell, you can't mix bits between the generations.

If your on a basic stage one kind of tune stick with a stock clutch i would say.

Here in the UK there are loads of stage one evo's from 4's to 9 all with the stock clutch and flywheel and they dont have any slip issues at all.

I had my evo 5 upto 370hp and 355ft/lb on the standard clutch and was absolutly fine no issues at all and it was like that for a long time aswell.

Some people also push there evo 9's past 400hp on stock clutch and dont have any issues unless they are launching it or cant drive

As already said if you have the larger flywheel you can fit a later 7-8-9 clutch.

cool.. thanks for the info.

Like I said, Im trying to go as cheap as I can. I've had highly modified cars in the past and have always gone with the best parts.. twin plate clutch, ect ect.. But with this car I just need it to get me to work and back and that is about it for right now.

I'm looking to spend around $1-200 if I can.. because the installation is going to cost me about $500 thanks to the yen to dollar exchange rate.. =(
