6k clutch dump- am i screwed?
Holy smokes dudes, did logic skip this tread?
1. 6k launches aren't really "good" or "bad". The Evo will handle most anything you throw at it, BUT something is going to break if you keep trying to break things. There's also NO REASON at all to launch an Evo from 6k. Ever.
2. If someone is telling you to "test" your clutch... then you're doing it wrong. A clutch is a WEAR ITEM. They WILL GO BAD. If your clutch is going bad, you'll know, because it will start to slip when it's under load. BUT! That doesn't mean you should put the car in 5th at 35mph and go WOT! If you have to go looking to see if your clutch is bad, then you're just ruining it. If it works as you need it to in the car as you drive it, then it's fine.
By comparison, I'm sure I could hook a 10,000lb trailer up to my poor Evo, and go WOT in 2nd and get my clutch to slip. But that doesn't mean the clutch is "bad".

I guess I missed this one. It is fine to launch your evo from 6000+ rpm. I have done it a ton. Once you start getting the bigger turbos you have to.
