2nd and 3rd gear crunching (Mainly at lower revs when shifting normally)

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my car where it will occasionally crunch when changing from 1st - 2nd and from 2nd - 3rd, other gears are usually fine. I'm not talking about a "notchy" feel here, I'm talking about actual crunching.

When I got the car 3rd gear was always a little notchy, however after a while I experienced 2nd gear crunching at high revs. I think about half a dozen of these high RPM crunches (while slamming gears) might have stuffed the synchro because 2nd has now become worse then 3rd, when it decides to crunch it is almost always lower revs and following a tranny oil change it no longer crunches at high revs. Overall, both 2nd and 3rd are more likely to crunch when upshifting normally (slowly), downshifting is as smooth as silk.

What might be the cause of this, I've put in 75-90 GL4 oil by Castrol. I noticed people here recommend Amsoil 75-90 GL4, will it really make a difference over my current oil?

I've also read that changing the front motor mount and shifter bushings as well as a clutch pill delete/SS clutch line may fix this problem?

I'm a bit pissed off about this because the tranny deteriorated in such a short period of time, I know that my hardcore gear shifting is partly to blame but there's gotta be something else in the mix.

Any suggestions?

Amsoil will surely help you with shifting and keeping the lubricity between the gears to a max
