Quartermaster slipping prematurely.

I've got a quartermaster twin and quartermaster TOB with less than 2000 miles, and no launches on it. It starts slipping when it gets warmed up at only 15 PSI. I'm having a hard time believing that I already wore it out. It disengages after only about 1/2 inch of pedal travel, but there's dead travel in the MC above that. Is it possible something other than clutch wear is causing the slip?

Is this the new 8-leg twin?

It's the old school 6 leg twin, and it's a 2.4 LR engine.

get that thing out of your trans. they are junk. i had one that sheared all the splines off my input shaft which lead to a trans rebuild. when i talked to quatermaster they said its a known problem then offered to not refund any of my money but rather to buy the new design that "fixes the issues" through them. save yourself alot of time and money, just replace it with pretty much any other twin disc out there. your better off.

That's because of how the disks from the 6-leg are designed. I too had the 'hardened hub' disks eat up my input shaft. I then bought the 'gear drive' disks that go in the new 8-leg version. Just looking at it you can tell it's a better design, a lot more contact between the disk hub and input shaft.

I'll be buying the new design discs when I take these out, but I really don't want to if there's something stupid I should be checking first.

To answer the original question, i would say you didnt get the HTB shimmed correctly. It putting pressure on the pressure plate causing the clutch not to slip. Just a thought....
