when i made my intake, the long 45* coupler rubbed the lower radiator hose, i trimmed it way down and did a couple bends with the aluminum tubing. worked out much better.

this is what my maf setup looks like now. im thinking ill do a 45 coupler with a 45 pipe as long as the filter wont be sticking out of my hood and i can clear the fan and lower rad hose.

i ran an amsoil filter on my 35r sti for over 2 years and never cleaned it, the turbo inlet was always spotless. you could wipe it with a white rag and nothing would get on it. well worth it.

I have all the parts for the 4" I think the fan is causing the fitment issues.. I can't find a slimmer fan then the one I have now. I need about an inch or so to make things easy. I understand placement isn't ideal but I can't afford to start from scratch with this car, it is running well and together just with no intake at the moment!

How bad would stepping down to a 3" intake choke the car? Any opinions?

go to any parts site like summite, or jegs look up slim fan and see what they got...there will be tons. also i never looked into it but maybe change to a push style? so it mounts on the other side. just a thought not sure if there is room or not.

i think most fans can be push or pull, just depends on the way you wire it.
