Could also be the tester you're using is off by a bit and reading a little high if its a fully stock motor for sure?

I bought the car from the original owner at 17k miles. He never said anything about having drop ins put in or having the motor built, but it's always a possibility that he did and just didn't tell me. I personally have never pulled the head or oil pan. I'm going to check tonight and see if the stock pistons are in there or not.

And as far as the compression tester goes, it is used on evos a couple times a week. It hasn't shown anything higher than 180-185 on a stock block. This is why is it so odd that we're getting 195-200.

Looks to me like stock pistons in there. I couldn't verify the 63dt, but it had the cast circle in the center like a stock piston.

Verify the Cam timing and Crank timing. A timing belt that is off can cause higher than normal compression numbers. If all is well you just have a very healthy engine. Mine was always a little higher than average too.

Just did a compression test and plug change today. 173, 175, 171, 170...I was happy with the results. Stock block 112,000 miles on 23 psi.
