Hey guys,

Here's the dyno graph. This was done on a mostly stock EVO with HKS 272 cams, S-AFC II computer. No tuning was done in between pulls, there should be more power to be found with some tuning.

Thanks,

Gary

I have the Apexi kit too and I think the best way is probably take a air compressor and blow it out from the inside? If you dont want to take it apart probably use a brush and clean it since its a dry filter.

I kept the stock tubing and put an aem element/fitter on...cause with the hard piping, it kept coming off/getting loose with all the engine movement. sounds great the way I have it

i like the hks rs intake piping with k&N filters, long ones with 4 inch opening.

that would be a good combo.

I just installed an APS cold air setup on my '03 and it is awesome! I tried a K&N Typhoon and the performance was bad, the car would just totally lay down after about 5k.

Went back to stock with a K&N drop in. The car ran good again but I really missed the sounds of the turbo and DV.

There was a post a while back about the Evo MAF requiring the air to be hitting the MAF straight on. After installing the APS I was expecting the performance to be about the same as stock but this thing pulls a lot better, is smoother and there are no signs of surging or fuel cut at all.

The install was a little bit of a pain, the opening in the intake that the MAF registers into was just a little bit off, enough that two of the bolts couldn't be started. I had to take a dremel and do just a small amount of cleanup in the bore of the intake to make it fit correctly.

As a bonus the factory DV is pretty loud with this setup.

I just took the top cover off of my stock air box and tied the filter down with elastics........what can I say I'm cheap.........Sounds good, you can really hear the spool better. I'll be getting a K&N drop in and I'll tie that down too.

i sold my hks rs and am now currently using the dejontool hard pipe and stock airbox. i think this was a big mistake because my car chokes when i try and boost hard. as if its hitting fuel cut off or something. i think the reason for this is because my car was tuned on a safc for the setup with the hks intake. the stock airbox must be throwing the a/f off because its not tuned for it. on top of that i really really miss hearing the sound of my hks rs. im going to pick up a helix intake so if anyone is interested i will have a dejontool hard intake pipe for sale. $100 obo.
