Intake Evo 8
i got the HKS RS.. i was stuck in the same situation.. the filter is not going to fall apart on you, like someone said hks is involved in a lot of turbo cars, tehy will not make somethign half ***.. nor will any of these companies.. its all a even playing field... but you should look into if your getting a reflash, or what your gonna do, and see what yeilds the best results, a majority say the hks, but thats becuase i only looked for HKS results
I'm surprised no one has disconnected their battery when installing an intake with a tube. This will allow a slight recalibration for A/F and may eliminate some of the problems few have had. I ordered the Buschur racing intake yesterday, we'll see how it goes.
well, if you have not gotten your intake yet, do a search on intakes. someone left me a link on my intake post that had Apex-i, K&N, blitz, and HKS (green filter, not yellow).
you'd be surprised how much HKS does not filter. im not bashing them because they make alot of stuff and most of which is good, but i got the $30 drop-in filter from HKS and there is a considerable amount of dirt deposite in the bottom of my factory intake box... the HKS units will however deliver the most HP (14-15 from HKS compared to 12-13 from K&N and Injen)
the Apex is a dry filter which is what surprised me the most and has the best filtration of all the filters. K&N is a rock solid piece, but you need to oil them regularly (20-30k miles) and from them, if you over oil them, it gets clogged up on your mass air flow sensor causing all kinds of nasty to your ECU. under oil it, and it will pass dirt and dust like starbucks thru your body.
BUT!!!! from everyone i have talked to, the injen unit, retails for $350ish is the best overall because they use dry filters AND come with the upper IC pipeing to give your engine bay a damn good look and helps with reducing the flex of the factory rubber joints/elbows (which causes unwanted turbulance RIGHT BEFORE THE THROTTLE BODY causing loss in torque and HP. ples the IC pipe helps keep the air a tad bit cooler. when i save up 350... im going to go with injen.

I had the Aem intake which I thought was terrible!! I recently just installed the Injen intake kit with upper I/C pipe.....awesome setup. This kit was easy to install and sounds great, not to mention it looks great as well!!
I'm lookin for somthing that takes up less space than the stock box and that i can hear the spooling and BOV. But i've heard there are stalling issues with some of these kits. Would reseting the ECU fix that?

I'm hoping that it makes the intake a bit louder without altering the quality of air flow through the MAF (which upsets tuning).
