Gone through 3 evo motors, need suggestions
I've heard of a tuner in socal that sometimes pops engines...might have been a combination of a not so prime engine and a little too aggressive a tune. I hope you get your car up and running
I agree with everyone else. You can't just throw in a built motor and expect it to hold up to the abuse of a bad tune and aggressive driving.
You need to address the problem at hand and find out what exactly happened to your motors. I'm guessing you need to find a new shop to build your motor and to tune.

- Tuning with fuels of high alcohol content (e.g. E85) isn't like tuning with gasoline. Oftentimes one can advance the ignition timing right past MBT without any indication of knock. The potential result is enough to grenade a built rotating assembly, much less the factory rods and pistons.
- If one is going to take it out and beat on it, the financial savings of replacing a stock block with another stock block is an illusion that more often just ends up costing more later, if not sooner.
You can take some consolation in the fact that none of these unfortunate accidents occurred with a more expensive engine, and take some time in reviewing the resumes of prospective tuners with respect to the particulars of tuning with E85. Surely, there are plenty of forum users in your region who can assist you in making that important choice.
42revo. that's cool if you do not wish to release who did the tuning or building (however it may be helpful for other guys to know that they should avoid them)
But both the building and Tuning processes in a car build are of the utmost essential priorities. I HIGHLY recommend that you save for your next build and take the time and money to go to English racing in Washington. Trust me. Do yourself the favor and put your money where it counts. They will not dissapoint you.

Ok, for the financial safety of other members i think u should let the community know who this was. I mean thanks to him u went through two motors, not one but two. Now if he threw u some money to help purchase a replacement then i can say ok, but c'mon man...............mmmm wait, tuner in socal blowing motors.........yeah i think alot of ppl on here have an idea who. Well good luck in getting your problems solved and listen to the last few comments, some "life lessons" being passed down here
