I have a Exedy HD Twin w/ AMS Hydraulic TOB, I had the STM Fork stop and on a 9K RPM Shift at the Strip the TOB popped out regardless so I went to the Hydraulic TOB and I have never had an issue since. I would drive the car to the track and run it and the Twin setup has lasted for 2 years now but I do not DD the car currently. I did DD it for about 4 months and no issues at all. I had a QM Twin for a while but it was too loud and chattery for my liking. If you have the Exedy Twin already get the Hydraulic TOB conversion and it really makes the car easy to drive and the pedal is smooth IMO.

I did on my 2003 Evo VIII after 40K miles of abuse. I adjusted it, then never again. i was shifting at 7800-8000 RPM/s and running consistent low 12's on a basic bolt-on and a Turbo Trixx (YECH) tune. I had to add a SAFC and add some fuel up top, my trap speeds went from 110-114 after my fiddling.

The clucth is low tech for sure, all it is is a beefed up stock clutch, but OEM equipment has millions of dollars of research. Do a quick search on this site to see HOW MANY used EXEDY and twin disk style clutches there are? God forbid you get a non HD version you'll melt it. They don't last, lucky to get 30K out of them. Does it shift better then a ACT? Without a doubt you must drive the XTSS with finess which is basically driving your Evo with a bear trap, certainly a tranny breaker if you just dump it like an idiot. I put min in on my MR at 40K, I am at 105K and still smoke all 4 if i ask it to.

XTSS. STOCK FLYWHEEL!!!!!!

Nice! Do you mind me asking how much power/torque you are making? Are you planning on using the stock flywheel?

I have a act hdss. The clutch is good to me and I launch it at 5800rpm with my fp black setup. I've made multiple 11.50 passes on it and I like driving it on the street. I want to go with a twin disk. What do you guys think of the comp twin disk???? Any recommendations for me as we'll as the OP?

yes i am going to use the stock flywheel. I havent dynoed yet as ive been rebuilding my car but i should be around 400hp/tq after my retune. for the price and the reviews so far, it seems like a great option to go with the Comp clutch.

Adjust it, that is all you need to do. Also look into a 6 puck style clutch. They never lock out.

Im using a act clutch now for over 16,000 miles and no problems. I have 465hp/400torque on my bolt-on gt3076r now. Spend less than 1/3 of the twin and maybe 1/4 of triple. No lock out and driving is good without any leg cramp lol.

ya, it drives like crap. if it's in a race car that fine, but for a street car you're gonna kick yourself. i didn't read why you wanted to stay away from them but, i can tell you i put 12,000 pretty hard miles on it and it still grabbed fine. IDK why you wouldn't want to just buy something that's proven to work time after time.

I dont Think the exedy twin/triple is very streetable. I find them pretty harsh for a true street car and very noisy. I am going to try my luck with a Competition clutch stage 2.

I'm kinda puzzled by the exedy twin/triple comments. I've briefly driven both and found them to be well mannered. Maybe they get nasty after building up miles or abuse?

I've driven my buddies 800 whp evo and he has a exedy triple. It feels like stock. Maybe you guys had a bad install.
