The way I did it I pulled it out with tranny and it was super easy especially if you have the engine leveler, but I was told that you can pull it without it and easier is to just drop it.

Ya i wanna just keep it in if possible. I have a lift so if worse comes to worse ill drop it all out of the bottom. I just wanna see if i can leave tranny in first

Yes, you have to pull everything off the front of the motor including oil pump to gain sufficient clearance. You also have to unbolt and push over the transfer case.

you would most likely have to remove the traqnny mounts and move the input shaft off the clutch in order to remove just the engine, u may be better just hoisting it all out in one go or you have to support the tranny in a way that u can easily move it. ive never done this on an ev o but my RA tranny has been out twice and its kinda a pain

i guess i should have scrolled down two quotes

If you have a lift, remove the subframe and drop it through the bottom it will be A LOT easier.

I have done it several different ways, but if I had a lift I would probably drop the whole thing out the bottom with the subframe as mentioned. Working on the whole lump is easy that way, and ingress and egress is much simpler. Wrestling with the tcase and space can be a pita.

I pulled the trans and engine out separately but then installed as one piece. I would at least take out the trans and engine together if doing it in my garage again.

On a separate note if I were doing anything with the tcase again I would drop the subframe. It makes everything so much Easters just with a few extra steps. Now that I have done the subframe I wish I would have listened to folks that told me to drop it for a clutch job. Working the tcase without the subframe makes it soon much easier. Especially without a lift.

Dropped mine out the bottom in 4 hours taking 3 breaks. Power searing lines ac conpressor engine mount tranny mount driveshaft wiring harness control arms and tie rods if you wanna leave the the suspension in. Thats basically it. I might be missing a few things since mines so heavily modded.

Clean the engine bay really good before putting in the new motor. Good luck getting it out and putting in the new motor!
