20 PSI stock?

Hello everybody I just got a new EVO 9 but i am not new to the evo world. Anyways the 9 is low milage and bone stock except a boost gauge.. now i have owned this car for a little over a month and last night was the first time i got on it which was very exciting except my boost gauge was reading 20psi and holding it steady.. now i have looked into it but have gotten vague answers.. I feel like 20psi is way to much for a stock 9 and now im starting to wonder if it wasnt modded before and then returned to stock and had the tune left on it? CBRD is literally 2 miles away from my house so if i need a tune ill go get one but im just curious if this is normal or im on the verge of blowing my motor up.

Thanks!

19.5psi is stock boost pressure, usually it will taper off a little at the higher revs unless modded.

Get it tuned for piece of mind, you never know what a previous owner has done. A stock IX with no bolt-on's will still put down 270-280 on a mustang at 20-21psi, and safe.

20 psi is stock boost.

May want to read this thread if you aren't familiar with your new car:

That's just stock boost, you will be fine my friend. And that is no where near too high for a stock Evo. A friend of mine has been driving with 30 psi of boost with E85 for a couple of years now. It is mostly a stock evo, besides injectors, intake, exhaust and tune.

WOT runs in 1st & 2nd are not gonna tell you very much about whether or not your turbo creeps or tapers, or not. 3rd is just barely indicative. Try WOT in 4th gear from 3000 RPM preferably on a long, uphill grade, on a cold, chilly night.

Oh yeah, and be sure to buckle up.
