I'd say the most likely answer is that the STM clutch fork stopper was not properly adjusted and was keeping the clutch from fully engaging. As the clutch wears the stopper has to be adjusted to keep it ~1/8" from the fork, and he said that it was never done.

nothing wrong with that clutch. should be put back in the car. sucks you took it out. you need a better shop to service your car.

Yea, no "true" evo shops in Vancouver or BC for that matter. But English Racing is across the border...may go to them for the bigger stuff in the future.

At last years shoot out, I made 10 passes. Car was making 569hp(VD). All of my passes were 11.1-11.3 and 127-129mph. I got no lock-outs what so ever. I actually highly recommend this clutch.
I used the Stage 2 kit with unsprung street disk.
I would use again in a heart beat.

^^^^^^ i see you back in the game ^^^^^^^
I'm on the fence about the stage 3 or the stage 4 just want zero lockout

We havent good luck with the Stage 3 or 4 in the Evo. The Stage 2 holds the power that the other singles are designed for. Anything more than that needs a twin.

so you think a stage 2 would hold a fpblack on a 2.3 stroker motor making over 500tq? if not what would you recommend ?
We tested the Stage 2 to 530 ft lbs on a LR2.4 with a 4.0 FD. 500 tq really needs a twin to be effective.

but would it hold a hard launch? and how come the stage 2 has no lockout and stage 3 and 4 does?

Great, so stage 2 it is.
For a 99% street driven evo looking to make 10 launches a year, would the sprung version be a better choice?

The unsprung does better with the high rpm shifts. I've driven both, and the unsprung was fine to daily drive. It transmitted a bit of gear noise, but nothing out of the ordinary for an Evo, especially one that is built to be launched.Originally Posted by tsitalon1

Yep. I have it, too. I wish I would have gone unsprung. I was a wimp.
