Comp has done it again an even better Stg 2 clutch option
Getting my CC stage 2 unsprung (from ER) installed tomorrow with a resurfaced act street lite flywheel, new oem throwout bearing, o-ring, STM clutch fork stopper, steel braided clutch lines and Amsoil manual transmission and transaxle gear lube (75W-90 API GL-4).
Purchased the car a year ago and it came with an Exedy Stage II which I despise: pedal sits very high despite adjusting it, noisy pulling off in traffic and hills, locks out a lot when shifting at or above 7k rpm. Clutch sits so high that I can't use NLTS because the secondary clutch switch keeps getting activated while going full throttle.
I believe 500 miles break-in is recommended and l'll baby the car during that time in the hopes that this clutch solves most, if not all these problems and report back here.

Yup I definitely will. Should get the car back either today or tomorrow for first impressions.
My setup is pretty conservative right now as I only have 3 power mods and am still on a completely stock exhaust. I made 340 whp on a dynojet. The car is making closer to 350-360whp since introducing methanol and should be in the 400+ range next month with the following power mods en route:

- MAP o2 eliminator (recirculated)
- STM resonated test pipe.
- Tomei Expreme Titanium Catback

So it's been about a week on the new clutch. I've put about 150 miles on it so far.
I stalled the car about 10 times on the way home from the shop. It was very grabby and the pedal sat much lower than it did previously as the old one was really on its last life - all this to be expected on the very first drive on a brand new clutch and getting used to it. I had to re-learn to drive the car essentially - that much of a difference but in a good way.
It is true that you hear more of the tranny during deceleration. I have a bone stock exhaust system so it was the first thing I noticed. However I can safely say after driving the car for the last 5 days that it is not loud enough to be a big deal. If anything it makes the car sound a little more raw which I like.
I really like the clutch so far but it's hard to be objective since it really isn't broken in yet. I've been babying the car and have avoided slipping it as much as possible so far. My car shifts into reverse now without any issues where as before it would give problems. Overall I would describe it as very solid pedal feel...meaty with solid engagement feedback. Without being too verbose: it feels way more connected than the exedy when I shift, as you get off the clutch, back on the gas and gear the diff lock....makes you want to really "drive" your car
It's much easier to drive in traffic and hills than my exedy stage II. It doesn't chatter, squeal or make any sort of noise other than during deceleration and again I think this is more pronounced for me because I'm on a stock exhaust. You can't get away from this either, rev matching won't help you: it just is what it is.
I'll see if I can take some video while cruising and see if the decel noise comes through.
Driveability: 9
Noise: 7.5
Performance: ??? 350 miles to go...

Just now reading this after installing the sprung Comp Clutch this past summer. You'll have no regrets. Its a great clutch. I have smooth shifting at 8K. I'd still highly recommend it. Maybe next time I'll try this, if Comp Clutch has not come up with something better before then.

So for a DD car in the mid to upper 400wtq range would you recommend the stage 2, 3, or 4 unsprung? Im in the market for a clutch and need to get one ordered before my tranny gets back from Jacks in 2 weeks. Thanks in advance feel free to PM any deals.

Most all single disc clutch work better being adj pretty high off the floor.
This is still my favorite single disc clutch have installed over 10 in the last few mons. Everyone seems pretty happy .
We have them instock now also.

Would you recommend this or a stage 3 on a 2.4 blk 4.11 with light launching around 530trq? I have a qm 8 leg and triple but looking to get away from multidisc clutches.

If you street drive and light drag race going back to a single will be a nice switch, but if you launch much no single will do the Job. I am a fan of the street disc my self. I find more grabby disc get heat into the pressure plate faster and you end up with lock out problems sooner.
I fight this my self for the 90% of the driving I do. street and road course I love my single but a night at the drag strip and I wish I had my comp twin.

I like what ive seen about this clutch. Is the unsprung center likely to cause false knock on a stock ecu set up? I know theres no guarantee's however... something that I need to consider is my tuning ability and need for a new clutch. Starting to slip
.
.
I'll be needed a clutch soon enough, I have about 45k on my Exedy twin SD, only about 3 launches ever though, compared to dozens of launches and about 30k miles on my last Exedy twin SD.
I want the smoothness of a full face disc but still deciding whether I want to trade off the high rpm shifting...
Clutch is great so far....soooo much smoother than the exedy stage II and shifts like butter. Been busy with work but I'll be adjusting the pedal on Saturday and taking the car to the strip for the first time since I've covered the recommended 500 mile break in.I can't speak for ER, but thus far I haven't gotten any false knock readings in my logs with the upsprung.

I have nothing but positive things to say. No high rpm lock outs to report. It does rattle a little bit but that is expected.
My power level is 500+hp on stage 2 unsprung.
I'll give a full run down after i get to the track next week.
