Evo 7 GTA Turbo/Cams Help.
First dyno graphc spec is
stock evo 7gta turbo
aftermarket extractor and intake
greddy profec b 2
Apexi safc
Engine is fully stock, included intercooler. Just some samco hose.
(When i just bought this used car , previous owner didn't tune. He just adjust hi/low boost himself and proper AF tuned)

Your result is not bad for GT-A

Perhaps you can do 350whp with say a set of GSC S1?
Another turbo alternative would be FP 71HTA
Same result as HKS GT II but cheaper

Tuned on 98 Preimum in Australia.
Came in at 191awkw. Not quite what I wanted but happy with it none the less auto box really saps the power tuners said if it was manual would be at about 220 awkw.
Im putting it in again in 2 weeks for the following:
ETS Intercooler Upper and Lower pipes (going Matte Black)
GSC S1 Cams (not 100% sure ill go cams yet but I am leaning towards getting them.)
ID 1000cc Injectors
E85 Tune (found out there was actually a station 10 minutes away!)
Stage 2 Shift kit.
So I will put in another update when that's all done really not sure how much power it will make but should be a nice change

I haven't buy the HKS gt2 7460r yet.. but last few week ago i just overhauled and upgraded my gearbox.
i broke one half year ago. Planetary gear damaged.. teeth chewed. Replaced an used unit which already 150k km.
Recently I was told every evo7 gta gearbox wave spring is too fragile.. it will break at high mileage or aggressive driving style..
So i upgraded it and I'm quite believe what this workshop telling me. He is specialist for airtrek, evo..
a thing i must do before.. few of his clients 350whp running many years are still good.
He show me the airtrek and evo7gta is using same gearbox and inside some of their parts are a lot stronger. Mean Mitsubishi revised this type of gearbox at 2003 onward.. but 7 GTA was obsolete and didn't bother to recall or change. Sumore 7 GTA only selling in japan.. that's why no much info about this model.
Now i feel faster up shifting.. acceleration improved. Almost work like a DSG in normal mode.. but down shift is still far from those DSG or SST. (I did tried evo x and golf gti before)
Hi...my name is David from Australia with evo GT-a with quite a few mild upgrade's pulling 263 on 98 RON, MY GEARBOX SEEM'S TO BE STILL RUNNING strong and fine but I am only just gone over 102.000 kms....I was wondering how much it cost for the gearbox upgrade u just mentioned? remember mine is fine still so I am not sure but I imagine your's included extra fix it cost's as it was stuffed, Do you know how much about just for upgrade you mentioned WAVE SPRING and anything else that required from good condition gearbox? Thanks a lot....David(TASMANIA,Aust)
Also I was thinking about turbo upgrade but this thread has been handy with info for changing my thinking on it.
The dyno sheets of tuned ECUtec remap gt-a turbo were high 259...like I think even by memory 259.94 yet with the 08mr turbo it only increase to 261.08 (that's like nothing) and sure it to power abit quicker like mr turbo reached 238 KW at was 4000 rpm spot on to the end of straight power gain line but the GT-a with normal turbo wasn't much slower at all even there and reached 235 KW at about RPM 4,350 rpm, so to conclude it is only 3 KW more 350 rpm sooner.
That dyno just totally made my mind u to keep my car as it is.... especially with them mean't to be specially designed to suit the car and give extra benefits elsewhere.(9T turbo over the 10.5 that is).

There is one transmission workshop quote me rm2500.. but i dont have confident to let him do.. prefer go forthe guy driving same car and doing evo repair job everyday.

I was told by tuner that the turbo will be gain a lot more if i replace other cam such as gsc1 or stock manual evo cam. Auto cam lost top end power..
he showed me one e7gta 8mr turbo with 8mr cam 290whp.
Btw i shd dyno it again soon.. not only i feel changing gear better since upgraded gearbox.. i feel like i gained some torque too... quite feeling like manual car pushing me into seat.. i'm expecting few kg torque increase.
ya.. 1 more thing i repaired. I complained my car having knock back long shaft noise everytime i immediately let off pedal at low speed (under 30 kmh) while accelerate..
Found out it's the centre transfer case.. inside teeth chewed.. almost flat.. i have video can show u guys auto one is different.. the manual one is a lot stronger material which wont break like this.. the workshop converted mine to manual version with still using my own case. He told me quite common for airtrek too.. especially the car getting old or improper launching.. he repaired a lot of this same problem.
Now i can deaccelerate like new car.. especially the torque kick in and let off gas.. no cabin noise kicking.. quite happy..

..... the power at earlier rpm range is a lot better.
dun forget ori gta turbo is 9.0T.. my 8mr is 10.5.....I guess material turbo is different. I tried weight the GTA turbo feel bit heavier than 8mr titanium turbo. 8mr seems lighter.....somebody offer me his HKS gt2 ballbearing turbo.. Now i'm planning upgrade again...

Contrary to what you are experiencing, the 7 GTA turbo should spool significantly faster than the 8 MR turbo all else remaining equal. The 9.0cm turbine housing has a much tighter(smaller) A/R. Also, unless I am mistaken, the VIII MR turbo did not have the Titanium-Aluminide turbine wheel. So, both wheels are Inconel material and thus should weigh substantially the same.

He charged me RM 4500 (u can convert malaysia ringgit to ur currency). Torque converter inside all the friction plate n pump upgraded too.. free reprogram gear timing after 500km run.. now i only 250km.. rarely drive recently. Warranty 6 months unlimited mileage.. but warranty doesnt cover planetary gear broken.
