So I stole this right from the book of DSM'ers and one of my best friends Ryan aka Fonz

I've had the old QM 6 leg and now the new QM 8 leg in my car (daily on the street), I've driven Exedy, Comp Clutch, and PTT Twins.

As we were heading to lunch and got on the topic of clutches and how they feel etc. My buddy just happen to mention DSM guys like to use 2G clutch accumulators on twins to slow the fluid a little to reduce the harshness and the hair trigger like engagement.

This really peaked my interest as any of you with a touchy clutch that grabs like these can be a little annoying to drive all the time my biggest concern was can you still bang gears? Yes.. yes you sure as hell can. This immediately set me on the hunt for a spare one to try out on my Evo as for the longest time DSM guys just tossed these when they were using single disc clutches. My best friend grabbed one off the Link forums for me to experiment with, came in yesterday and here's how it went.

It's simple to install, plug and play really (with the QM anyway) We put it right between the upper line and where it connects to the lower line going to the HRB and Temporarily mounted it for easy access and to reach just in case it didn't perform, etc. Bled it, done. I drove it enough yesterday after it was all put in and man what an awesome difference, made the clutch engagement so much smoother almost Exedy like. I banged some gears and there was no difference from before, just overall smoother engagement, really really happy I found out about this little trick and did it.

Here's a pic with the accumulator and upper SS line (we were just making sure all the fittings were right and how it would go in)

Installed (Top line is the upper line, goes through the accumulator out down to the HRB, other random line is the bleeder from the HRB)

These things are cheap, easy to install. If you street drive a decent amount on these clutches I suggest you give it a shot

I wish I took more pictures but it's fairly easy, my friend wants to do it too with his new QM 8 leg so for those interested I'll take more pictures when the time comes.

Same theory as the clutch pill in the stock slave cylinder. Nice work

This is a great idea! I just put a QM 8 leg in my car and it is pretty harsh on the street... Can these accumulators be found on the DSM forums?? More pics would be awesome too.

Thanks guys

Yes, you can find them on DSM sites and/or your local DSM buddies. Any manual 2GA or 2GB that it hasn't been ripped off of yet, they look a little different shape wise (one is fat and short, one is skinny and long) but do the exact same thing according to my research. The only line you may want with it is that little hard line, the rest I discarded and used my existing lines.

Part #'s
Accumulator - 2GA - MD746400
Accumulator - 2GB - MD749915

Short Hard Line - MD745644

I'll try to grab more pictures and the next one I do I'll document a little better.

My car is getting faster and actually LESS miserable to drive, I'm trying to make it as fast, reliable, and comfortable as possible.

I have heard of people doing this on the DSM for a while. I want to do it myself.

I did this for my yellow car ten years ago. it works quite well. reduces shock on gearsets too. i originally installed it to reduce shock with QM twin. still hated the clutch though which came out three weeks later.

This is the only modification to my DSM that keeps the twin disc from being a complete on/off switch. I like how innovation in the DSM world is being carried over to the Evo world. Good work.

Fantastic. Hopefully this can help me enjoy driving my car on the street again. I have the old QM which is awesome for the track, but the worst mod I've made for actually driving the damn thing.

Any place selling these new?
