Built transmission oil-leak
Built transmission oil-leak
Guys need help, I'm not familiar with transmission internals... I found an minimal oil leak just on top of this (in red circle) maybe while I'm bolting the linkages the seals was moved...
I don't actually know if I can safely remove this thing without having problems on gear alignments whatsoever... If I can remove this, is it safe to provide a gasket? or will I have clearance/gap issues? How do I re-seal this thing?
Appreciate your help

Since thats the shifter link/fork housing, I would expect that if removed, you would have a hard time lining it up or making sure it will shift properly. Hopefully someone that takes these transmissions paprt can chime in.
If you decide to remove it, I would send it to a reputable trans shop for repair. If it was recently rebuild, call the trans shop that built it for assistance.
Before making any repair, make sure all the bolts are tight. A cheaper alternative would be to clean the whole housing off with brake clean and put some RTV around the seal, let it dry and test drive it. If it still leaks then remove and reseal it.

If you're talking about the little rubber bulb thing dead center of the circle then yeah you can pull it off, that's a breather, just make sure u put one back on there. If you're talking about the whole linkage like the guy above me said I would send it to a shop.
Its sealed by an RTV. I was able to unbolt mine but I couldn't figure out how to remove the assembly. I just cleaned off the gasket surface, and put rtv on the best I could with the 1 1/2 in gap. No leaks yet
it was driven already that's why I noticed the leaks.... I had it stored in my garage for almost 1 year before I installed it.. my 6speed blew the 4th...

was it something inside that you wasn't able to completely pull it out?
so you had lifted it for only 1 1/2" only, then resealed it?
As for the breather, also RTV.
BTW, if this thing leaked in transit it was probably upside down.
I had mine out for a tranny install. Shift into neutral and remove the large fastener that touches the upper part of the circle. The lower end of that fastener engages a slot in the shifter mechanism. There is also the neutral return spring that likes to fall off the end of the shaft when pulling the control housing. When replacing the large fastener, run it down easy while giggling the shifter so it doesn't catch outside the slot. For the average person, doing what you did is probably the best idea.

I just can't picture how am I going to start with, but you bet, I would read this over again until I pulled it off... can you help picture those parts you mentioned?
The breather is the rubber bulb thing.
One of the shifter levers pivots on a bracket. To remove it remove the bracket.
The other lever is on a shaft that enters the control housing. To remove the guts of the control housing, shift the transmission to neutral, remove the fasteners on the front (around the shaft) and the large one touching the upper part of the red circle and also near the bolt for the rear motor mount in your pic that used to be a stud, huh, and tap the ears provided until the RTV seal is broken.
If you'll notice, the shaft going into the control housing moves in and out. There are two springs on the shaft that center it. The inboard spring is called the neutral return spring and it can fall off during the removal operation. I just fished it out with a magnet.
