Hey guys I'm really new to this site so I thought ask a couple of questions... I have an evo 9 and was driving my car the other day when I noticed a ticking, then it kinda went to a knocking and would stop after I threw it out of gear and coasted.. It would drive normal in certain rpms but bog really hard throughout the gear... The noise would kind of fluctuate and I can't really tell what it was... I started it earlier and it warmed up OK then the noise kinda came back from ticking to knocking and so forth...the engine smells strong of fuel so I don't know what it could be any ideas.... Sorry for long post

 

Did you just recently get the car/know the past history of it? If it smell like strong gas check for leaks at the fuel injectors.... could be creating a vacuum leak. If that's not it maybe a tune?

 

Gotta be an injector issue or a leak as stated above . Check your oil if it looks super runny you are getting fuel in your oil and that's no good also an explosion waiting to happen.. Don't ask me how I know lol

 

OK... If it was the injectors do you think it would make that nasty noise... I'll check the oil right now

 

Car was just recently tuned so I don't think that's it... It ran pretty well for a while..

 

I bought the car a couple of months ago, it ran while.. The guy that tuned my car said it was on e85 before I put it on pump.. But this issue just recently started happening.. And the noise comes and goes, it can get loud. Do you think injectors would make that noise

 

Ticking that turns to knocking doesn't sound healthy at all. My injectors tick but don't knock or even change their sounds for that manner

 

I don't know then... When it turns on it doesn't make any noise then it makes some noise coming from the top of the engine... It did it twice before for like 15 sec than it stopped and ran perfect all day the 2 times

 

Kinda a shot in the dark but does it sound like its coming from your turbo? Take the piping off and just check for shaft play doesn't hurt to know

 

Do you guys think it could be a faulty knock sensor... I saw a brief video and it kind of sounded the same.. I just don't know to be exact what would happen if the knock sensor went bad... Sound.. Performance, driveability???????

 

That I don't know but ill bump this. Maybe someone with more experience would know
