lifter tick?
so i have this ticking noise coming from my engine. i was told its lifter tick but it is louder some days then it is others. what should i listen for/check to make sure it isn't rod knock.
ill try and post a video of the noise a little later when i get a chance.

Lifter tick should go away after the engine has warmed. Also it's a definite ticking noise, as opposed to other engine issues which can either be felt at the same time and/or more likely to increase / decrease in volume with engine speed.
If yours is louder some days then others I'd say it is lifter tick, and the difference is just the outside temperature. Only way to know for sure would be to get a compression check and / or pull your lifters and have them cleaned.

I use the GSC 0 tick lifters (they still sound the same though). They have a stiffer internal spring then the stock ones. You can also use the big bore 3G lifters, they're a bit cheaper and the same as the ones that come in the Evo's.
Also the lifter specialty tool makes life easy when changing them. You also can just use a flat head screwdriver if you don't want to buy the tool.
