engine tick

I noticed the one night driving home a ticking noise while cruising and my rpms were around 3k. When it's in neutral you really don't hear it but when you Rev you can hear it again. It's real loud and bad sounding in 1st 2nd at around 3k. If you hold car at 3k it gets loud and sounds like something is loose in head. I pulled valve cover and everything looked normal. I ordered new lifters and seeing if that's the issue or possible bad bearing in a rocker. Any other ideas what it could be besides rod knock :/ which I hope it isnt. Any help or ideas would be great. The motor is a buschur 2.0 with stage 3 head with gsc 2 cams.

Can't be sure without checking... But it's most likely one of those you mentioned.

Lifters or rockers you mean. I listened to YouTube and the rod knock videos seemed louder than my car.

Well changed the lifters and the sound still exists. Rockers were fine and the dual valve springs looked to be ok. That's basically all the top end components and compression was 150-160 across the board.

Did you drain the oil and look for metal shavings?

Best of luck Mike. My vote is to pull the head, that will let you see the valves, pistons, and cylinder condition.
