Stay out of boost and dont be surprised if it stalls when you stop. Ive heard you dont need a tune and the evo ecu will compensate but personally i feel safer with a tune when going into boost.

You can, but it will be a bit rough on driveability until you do get tuned. It will have a tendency to stall when coming to a stop. Stay out of boost.

So to sum everybody's posts up: Yes you need a tune. (Unless you like stalling every time you stop?)

Search search search. This topic has been covered like 5 times in the past month or two.

Yes a tune is "required". Can you drive it? Yes. Will it run well? No.

If you have ecuflash and are decent with it. You can do a few things to make it drive ok until you take it in to get tuned.

You might have to turn up the idle a bit to keep it running

yeah lol it is no fun, trust me. The power steering goes out when it stalls and if you are in a turn, say turning into a gas station after slowing down, it might get really interesting when you have to explain to the other driver at the intersection why you smashed into his door

This happened to me, but I strong armed the car so I didn't hit the other guy; simultaneously soiling my britches

Do that or add timing in the idle load cells.

threads like this drive me nuts.

Hi, I'm going to replace a major part of my valve train. Should I drive my car for any amount of time without a tune?

NO.
