Crank walk rebuild advice
Buy the looks of the Main Bearings, you had either debris or low oil pressure.
Replace your oil pump assembly. including the housing. [ https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...ad6eeb14131d3f ]
Also check your oil cooler and lines for debris. If any is present, I would replace it also.

Also, definitely replace the oil cooler. There is no way to flush it out and be guaranteed that you got all the debris out. The cooler lines you can flush out. I sprayed a bunch of greased lighting in mine and let it soak for a while, then I blasted them out with my garden hose and nozzle. I repeated the process for good measure. of course make sure they are dry before you reinstall them.
Did you have to take your block/crank to the shop or did they tell you by looking at pictures. I still need to find out if my block is trash or not. Not sure how to find out?
WOW just checked out your pictures.
Did it grind through the thrust bearing? It looks like it did with the thrust bearing shard in the oil pump pick up and the grinding on the girdle.
Sorry everything junked out but yeah a 4g63 coffee table or end table would be a good next life for that engine. two
I have one sitting in the garage I want to do the same thing with.
Another idea I had was cut it out on the end of the block and insert a mailbox in it. Would be cool with a built looking block, head, intake, exh manny, and turbo as a mailbox. The only problem would be the doped up scrappers trying to steal it.

Wow.Nothing invites metal-to-metal contact like using a thinner oil than what the engine was designed to use. I feel confident in making the assumption this is the sole reason why your 21k mile engine failed in a manner that is rarely seen here, and with symptoms that are hallmarks of what happens when oil viscosity is too thin. It's too bad that you're having to pay the price for what was an inexplicable, critically poor decision by the previous owner.
5w20 was never used in the car in the previous owners possession. How do I know? I am the previous owner. Mobil 1 10W30 was exclusively used in the car from the day I picked it up at around 4k miles.
Thanks for clearing that up rgonyer. A container of 5w20 was found in the trunk, I assumed this was used in the recent oil change. I have no idea what could have caused this now. Thanks for the help guys

Dang....I would just buy a completely new bottom end if this happened. It's just less headache to go and rebuild it. May not be cost effective...but less headache.
Hope you get the EVO back on the road soon.
