When should the clutch be replaced?

I was just wondering if there's a recommended mileage to replace the clutch. I have a evo 8 with 73k on her and jw if I should think about doing it soon or just wait till it starts slipping.

Ok... it's weird sometimes I swear I feel like it slips but I can't tell. Cuz it doesn't do it all the time.

If you shift from 2-3 at fairly high RPMs and it feels like huge turbo lag, your clutch is slipping.

That was my experience.

I forget if it was 2-3 or 3-4 but I shifted normally and got on it to merge onto the highway and it felt like it was lagging horribly. And it smelled like clutch but it hasn't done it since.

the best way to test your clutch is find a good size hill, put it in high gear but only be going around 30, give it full throttle and watch your rpms and mph gauges. if the rpms go up rapidly but the mph stay the same then your clutch is slipping.

There's nothing complicated here, iIf the tach goes up but the speedometer doesn't the clutch is slipping. My OEM clutch first slipped last summer at 89K on a road trip over the 4th of July. It will slip in the highest gears first. Mine slipped in 5th on the interstate. I continued to daily drive the car until September and swapped out the clutch then.

Ok thanks for the info. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens.
