mivec trouble

Question mivec trouble

so i just installed supertech dual springs & retainers,1200cc inj. also no tick lifters and bc 272 cams on my buddies 06 evo. now when im under heavy load the knock light flashes and the car feels like its hitting a wall but if i ease into it and stomp the throttle around 4500 it will go with no knock light but still feels sluggish. the afr goes 10.0 when it feels like its hitting a wall as if the mivec is not advancing but the fuel is still there for the mivec

things ive tried.
1.pulling the in.cam and blowing all the oil ports in the head
2.12v to mivec sol. clicks and moves properly
3.checked timing 15+ times
4. blowing out the mivec gear

i also primed the oil before starting the car again

now im gunna check the filters and make sure thrye noe clogged so im getting correct oil pressure

Update

update: so yesterday i pulled the solenoid unplugged the ocv and bamb no issues but obviously running rich do to mivec fueling.. then i pulled the mivec gear aprt and nothing obviouslt damaged but after i put it back on the problem went away 1-5 nice pulls. ran hard. let it sit till my buddy came over to finish the tune and after driving for a few minutes the problem came back. then finally through and intake cam over advance code. im changing the cam gear now

sounded like a tuning issue to begin with, how are you going to slap on cams and injectors and just expect it to run fine.. you never mentioned about dialing everything in ecu wise...then you start tearing everything apart for no reason..

now i cant read your mind, you have to let people know all the steps you took before you started diagnosing and dissasembling...

Anyhow there are issues with mivec, i recently got a cam gear rattle that comes and goes, as soon as i unplug the mivec solenoid it goes away but the car runs sluggish from no mivec.. i have pulled mine apart and inspected everything and all seems fine, so let me know if changing your gear solves your problem..

yea theres a tuner where i work so he put a map and scaled the injectors before i started it. sometimes there no knock light and it runs good. just a little on the rich side from not being fine tuned.. around 10.5 at full throttle.

i just changed the mivec gear for a used one.. the soonest i can get a new one is 1 week. as soon as i took it out same thing, knock light and a bit sluggish. on the second pull, it ran good 1-4. no knock light and pulled good.
i do here a little tick coming from the mivec gear tho.

Any sludge?

It can be Cam-sprocket- oil control valve related. You should subsitiute one at a time.

I'm not sure it's sludge related.

When I have higher than normal oil pressure it works fine. Think 100 psi at cruising speeds. When I use either a shorter spring in the remote oil filter housing, to alleviate the high oil pressure, or the English Racing under drive oil gear MIVEC stops working.

If theres sludge in the engine it can be a plugged oil galley to cam,Control valve clog, oil control filter if it has one.
