EVO 8 help needed

Hi guys,

Its been a while since I have posted on the forms. Mainly because I barely drive my evo haha.. I have a 05 Evo 8 with 12500 miles. I havent taken it out for a while and decided to drive it today. I was driving it on and off for a good 30 min and its been so long so I pushed it a little more than I usually do. hehe.. Well after a while of driving I notice that my car would not boost anymore. When I drive the car at low rpm and get to a certain rpm when it needs to boost It does not go anywhere. It jerks back and forth like (my assumptions) it has no gas. When I switch to a higher gear it goes for a while and same issue. At normal RPM it works and I notice on the boost guage when it starts to hit boost it does jerks again at all gears.
They could be two issues in my mind and I hope I can get help from you guys.

1. There is a leak some where on the hoses for the turbo. About a year plus ago I changed all the clamps that hold the hoses to engine, inter cooler and turbo. When i did change these items, I didnt tighten the intercooler one and on the freeway it came loose and I lost ALL power and this does not feel like that. So that is why I am not sure if this is the real issue. Also when i was driving it today I think I heard some hissing sounds.

2. The turbo is not working (hope this is not the case). When I am on parked and press the gas to rev up the guage does not go into boost.=( I do not recall if it is supposed to or not.

Anyways any feedback would be much appreciated. Any way to test for sure with out taking everything apart would be great. Thank you guys.

Do a boost leak test. Is your check engine light on?

Best to recheck all connection points and survey all vacuum hoses too. When i forgot to tighten the 9 Bypass valve to intake snorkel it came apart during a boosted run. The engine wanted to die, RPMS were struggling to stay at idle. Exhaust was pig rich making the smell overwhelming. Once the appropriate clamp was tightened the car idled/ran normal again.

Turbo won't go into boost when you in parked position and revving.you need to activate 2 step or launch control.

It's the lower intercooler pipe I'm betting.

Had a similar issue & it ended being time for some new spark plugs. Just cruising around car was fine, but as soon as I went into higher boost levels it'd fall on its face. Good luck.

my brother said the same thing but it would not go into boost at all. at low rpm like 3000 it works when i accelerate slow but once i go past 3000 and it wants to boost it jerks back and forth and does not go anywhere, i have to switch gear.

The RPM idles just fine no issue there, car sounds fine just when Im driving having it wont go into boost. How do i know if its a turbo issue? What would be the signs that is the cause? Ughh I dont want to take the bumper and bottom piece off to check the hoses ugghh.. especially in this hot California heat.
Thanks guys for your comments back.
