Turn down tip on down pipe

Does anyone have any experience with using a turn down tip coming off the down pipe instead of running a full exhaust. I'm thinking about doing this for the track but I want to know if its worth it. I would have to jack up the car at the track and swap out the exhaust for the tip. Not much work but I just want to see if anyone else runs this and what type of gains they have seen with it.

I would think this is the same as running a short pipe straight from the DP out the side of the front bumper.

I made one for a turbo'd s2000 a while back, and it definitely made more power on his car, but he got rid of the car shortly afterward, so I have no long term things to say about it... his was V-Band, so pretty easy swap...

BTW my exhaust has been this way for years. Simple, lightweight, and sounds amazing.

Yeah I'm looking at doing something like that. I already have on just debating on if if worth the hassle of pulling the exhaust on jack stands to install it at the track. It would be too loud to drive it in the golfing community I live in. They already look at me like I'm crazy for haveing the exhaust I have on the car now.

They make electric cutouts precisely for this application.

Or English Racing makes a test pipe that uses a waste gate for the "cut out" valve, its boost activated..
